Very enjoyable ride from Dunedin on Friday evening. Kemet, Xaria, Free2be, Outbakal, Nighthawk, Botb, Neil (BSA Club) & Xknuts departed @ 6.30pm. This proved to be the ideal time as even though we all donned our wet weather gear it was not needed as we scouted around the darkening clouds that hovered over the Rock & Pillar range between Outram & Hyde. By the time we got to the Kyeburn Junction turning west towards Oturehua we could see the sunrays streaming through the clouds in the distance. Dusk was falling and the colourful red light show we got in the distance was spectacular.
I thought we were all stopping at Chatto Creek Pub for grub, but Outbakal cruised on by and the sheep followed. It was probabgly just as well as we only just got our tents up b4 total darkness. Talking of tents, did anyone notice the biggest tent there? Neil (thanks Mate) volunteered me to help Kemet & him to put it up. 1 hour later we had the Taj Mahal secure. a full 2 room layout which we were to use as our party tent when the Band stopped @ 2.00pm
Bloody hot at the Long Track Speedway Champs @ Oamakau on Saturday. Sun cream all round, then back to the site for a swim in the Manuherikia River about 7.30pm. That was superb.
Rosie & Shotgun rocked into the night. Good stuff.
I haven't missed the Vincent in years and not likely to either.
1) Outbakal bringing the Sunday espresso to some soreheads
2) Otago's "Blue & Gold". Free2be's "VN900" with Xknuts "Vegas"
Good to here ya all had a good weekend shame l missed it, may be next year anyway hope to catch up with everone at the March Hare.
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
MMmmmmmmmmmm ok ok, on deck again we is. Crazy weekend it been, spewing in tents is not what it's cracked up to be. But that is not the half of it, it all went quite downhill and nasty from there after Sunday. Oh oooo![]()
But I am going to bed, after what was a wicked crazy cool of a time cruisin.... great to meets ya'allllll!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
What a awesome weekend! As has already been said we (GB, FQ and I) travelled 2000km in four days staying at the rally, Milford Sound, and Pleasant Flat just sort of Haast.
Great to meet some new faces (old and new hands) and to catch up with the regulars.
I think we're going to post something up in Tour Reports, buts here's a taste of the rally and our ride:
