One thing I have noticed though, is there is much more police cars driving around the shore than out west!!! The 'leave the homies to kill each other off' tactic out west does not seem to work - at least NS has is sorted... (ish).

Since when has Glenfield, let alone Birkdale been part of the real Shore! - it was always considered a shithole - Shore by association - even back when Torbay was decidedly working class.........
I mainly grew up in Oteha Valley Rd, - when it was still gravel, then Browns Bay.

I spent 15 years or so in the bays (with parents), Mairangi to be exact. I aspire to being able to afford a house back that way again. The olds are still there.
The nicer side of glenfield (it exists, near manuka, easton park parade area) is where we managed to buy our first house. It's mainly second home owners and young families around here.
Try to avoid Beachhaven and birkdale directions and also the Bentley ave way.
