when you create a thread, look at the very bottom of the page, just above Submit Thread, there is an option to include a poll (screenshot attached)

You cannot edit a thread to include poll, nor can you edit a poll after creating a thread with a poll. It must be done as you create the thread. Anyway, click the option to include a poll, and on the next page, you'll also be asked if you want to have a multi-choice poll, and if its public (people can see who voted for what) or private (only numbers for each choice are listed)

When creating a poll remember a few basics:

    1. Your thread will be posted and appear before your poll does. If you're slow, or the site is busy, people will respond without knowing that a poll is coming.

    2. Give your poll a sensibly descriptive name. Polls appear on the site's home page without the context given by their associated thread.

    3. Compose your poll on a sheet of paper and think about what answers you want to get before creating it. Many KB polls are either ambiguous, too restrictive in their range of choices or just plain stupid. e.g. "Have you stopped beating your wife yet? Yes? No?" "Where were you born? NZ? Equador? Somewhere else?"
"Standing on your mother's corpse you told me that you'd wait forever." [Bryan Adams: Summer of 69]
