Yes must have been that program i was thinking of then
always seemed funny to me that it always found stuff
so i came to the conclusion that its partly stuff it put there in the first place
must have been as it always finds stuff and sometimes the same stuff even if you run it twice in a row

I just know what not to click on, and when I do click on it I know how to get it out.
    Thats good if that works
But for the sake of a bit of downloading why not get a free antivirus
then you dont need to know how to remove things cause you dont get things

OS X, intuitive and easy to use my arse. Never crashes, my arse. That's not to say there's a LOT of aspects about them I quite like. It's just the Mac brigade would have you believe they're much better than they are.

There's a LOT of very nasty programs with names that are similar to Spybot. Spybot 1.5 does a decent job, as does Lavasoft Adaware. AVG & Avast, you're splitting hairs between the two. I prefer Avast as it's more idiot proof and it doesn't schedule the pain in the arse daily scans.

The Microsoft anti spyware, Win defender live care etc are a complete waste of time.

I woudn't say McAfee or Symantec are any better than the free ones. Bitdefender seems to crash a lot and runs slowly. From my limited experience, Kapersky & Nod32 seem the best at detecting but aint free..

At the end of the day, none of them will protect 100%. None of them will help if your hardware farks up or you do something stupid yourself like logging in as an administrator and deleting important system files. Therefore most home users are as well with a combination of free stuff that will sort out 99% of threats.

The best defence is backing up, not visiting dodgy websites and taking a semi regular system image (Vista business or above or using the XML image software I mentioned earlier). Why pay money when you don't have to?

I run the NOD32 - 30 day trial, and every 30 days just uninstall it and go again, Brilliant! but if you are so inclined there is a trial crack that lets it run till 2050.

if you ever get a pop up from IE you never follow it and download

have update anti virus (avg, avast) both are free,
and spyware (spybot, adware) both free,

and make sure both are update and run run them across system for first start.

Ive used avg for a while now all good, if ya have b/band ya can set ya auto updates and daily scan for 3 am or the like !
    http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download.../frt/0?prd=aff
Run it in conjunction with avg's free spyware, which i run daily (ok so i visit a few dodgy sites)
    http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-spyware/
Stops ya pc from slowing down if you only have the basic pc
Also run adaware and quite often find that one might miss the odd spy but the other picks it up, if i run them one after each other !
    http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php
Deleteing ya cookies and history often helps too
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !
