KB Two Wheel for Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix

OK these are one if those early morning silly ideas

    BUT

How about we (KBers) enter a bike/trolley in the Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix?
There does not seem to be a spec from how many wheels the "trolly" has to have only that:
Your trolley may not have any external power sources or energy storing devices at all. The power of gravity only, absolutely no exceptions. That means no turbo’s, superchargers, NOS, old V8’s, jet engines, rocket boosters, pedal power, rubber bands or wind up devices (see http://www.redbulltrolleygrandprix.c...uirements.html for the rest of the specs).

So I thought, hey we could remove the peds, gears, chain and sprockets of a old ten speed (I have one we could use). Put foot pegs for the rider and push rails behind the seat for the "pit crew" (rules state that "Each team shall consist of a maximum 4 pit crew and 1 driver. That is 5 Team members in total.
Pit Crew will only be allowed to push the Trolley for the first 10m.
"http://www.redbulltrolleygrandprix.c...nfo/rules.html for the rest of the rules). Make some cardboard fairings for it. Paint it KB Yellow with big KB logos on each side and enter that.

I though TS might be cazy enough to be the rider
OK tell my if I'm completely nuts but:
    1. it would definitely be novel
    2. promote this site
    3. promote bikes
    4. have a good chance of being a winner
    5. and be a lot of fun

Yeah, but you'd have to glam it up quite a bit.
A standard bike frame sans engine would not raise much interest.
Of course we can't go the other way to far as we still want TS to get his (sparky) knee down on every corner

that would be a good idea... a reasonably weighty bike frame with TS on it should go pretty quick. Be a huge amount better if it was done at night though - more sparks
10m of pushing by the pit crew should get a trolley up to a high speed, and the momentum from a heavier trolley will keep the speed up... hopefully...

I am up for lending a hand on the day or in building it

I just had a good look thru the terms and conditions:

    10. All trolleys must comply with the following specifications and also pass the Promoters pre-race scrutineering criteria before racing commences:

    • Must not exceed 1.5m width, 2.0m high and 3.0m length.
    • Must not exceed 80kg dry weight (weight excluding the driver).
    • Must be equipped with an adequate braking system that functions independently of the steering and acts on at least two wheels (braking with hands or feet is prohibited).
    • Must be equipped with a horn or a suitable acoustic warning device.
    • Any add on weights or decorative parts must be securely fixed to the trolley.
    • Must not have any external power sources or energy storing devices such as batteries, motors, or rubber bungys.
    • Must have a minimum of three (3) functional wheels.
    • Must not have more than three sponsor’s logos. All sponsors logos must not exceed 40cm x 40cm. All beverage, alcohol and/or tobacco sponsors are prohibited;
    • The Race Number plate issued to the Race Team must be prominently attached to the front of the trolley so that it’s clearly visible.

    .....
Dam, they hid that one on me OK how about a trike done Bad Boy HD stile or an inline trike to look like this idiot Yankie
Could put the seat between the back wheel and mid wheel (where the motor would have been) and have a shorter frame The mid wheel could be disguised by the fairings

We could just put training wheels on it and they will actually be considered functional in that they prevent the bike from falling over when both the rider's feet are up on the pegs and the bikes not moving!

But, just using an old bike frame is'nt fair is it? I mean, don't we have to build it mainly from scratch?

    .
Ok, Functional's alright we can just bolt a couple of skateboard wheels to the fairing and tell them that TS needs them as he decks it over so low

I didn't see it say anywhere that they had to be constantly in touch with the road.

Cool,we can do one in the style of a F1 sidecar, now we just need an experienced sidecar crew to ride it

Man, that would kick ass if done right! Yeah, just shove a skatebaord wheel under the fairing, should get past the rule.

I recall last year or so someone entered a bicycle with some flashing lights on it in a CHiPs-esque attempt.
It was pretty lame by memory, so maybe that's why they've got a 3 wheels minimum spec.

I reckon Kickaha's idea of a sidecar would be wicked, although they specify 1 driver and 4 pit crew.
I presume that 1 rider, 1 swinger and 3 pit crew would recieve a "Error! Does not compute!" response from the organisers.

However a pit crew member that just happens to be in leathers, forgets to let go and jumps on the back would probably make the first run before disqualification..

Sidecar, awesome. Why didn't I think of that A small one does not need a swinger. A guy in Tauranga had a mini sidecar powered by a grass trimmer motor. It was small enough for you to be the rider and swinger at the same time. Lots of fun

Why bother building one--we could just "borrow" a bucket sidecar and dress it up Mind you guys --the thing is you dont win just by being the fastest--That would be too easy.
Its in 3 catagories ya have to win.
    Fastest
    Best presented trolly
Best show by the "pit crew"
A lot of the fast trolleys lost traction on the sharp right hand turn and spun out --So Im thinking tyre warmers turned up max to make the tyres super sticky.
I imagined a 4 wheeled "leaner" -- basicly 2 bicycles joined together with the rider in the middle -the dress it up with fairings and stuff.
-Um yep Im a sick puppy
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
