Unhappy Farewell absent friends. You are missed.

One of the perennial topics of conversation on this site is moaning about how some shit stirrer has achieved the ire of the Moderators and has been sanctioned for breaking the site's rules and disrupting members' quiet enjoyment. Usually from the aggrieved shit stirrer in question.

Another perennial topic is one which begs the reinstatement of members banned for repeatedly objectionable behaviour. This usually comes from people either in or amused by the antics of those referred to in this thread's opening paragraph.

Another perennial topic is people announcing that they have had enough and are leaving, few of whom actually do in reality. These folks are generally miffed attention-seekers.

More disturbing is the gradual and unannounced departure of members who make a valued contribution to this site, provide experience and services on the site and in meat space, and who make a positive contribution to the New Zealand motorcycle community. They do this not because they expect recognition but because they are folk who like being able to help others.

It is reasonably easy to assemble a list of "valued and positive contributors" who are no longer here. Some have different reasons for leaving, but for many the toxic, abusive, ungrateful and selfish attitude of some members ultimately proved too much for them. Without fanfare these folk have just logged off and never returned.

The world has pitifully few of these people. If the world is anything like Kiwi Biker, then it doesn't deserve them. We are poorer for their absence.

They, like everyone else, should HTFU, GTFU or FTFO.

Yes its life that people change direction and make decisions which affects things....

However, I think this is more KB, than life... some really good people who I care for deeply and respect more than most have left because of this shit some people are set on causing... however I don’t actually blame them for leaving, they are better than the crap, and should move on!

Some have done all three. That's why they're no longer here.

Naming names adds no value, other than noting who all the Really Good Bastards who're no longer here are.

Actually, some people who I "care for deeply and respect" have been utter wankers themselves at times and deserved a bitchslapping. Should they have left because of it, maybe, but I hope not. The measure of a person is how they deal with an honest bitchslapping, being able to acknowledge their mistakes and get over it. That commodity is one that is seriously laking nowadays, and its not just a KB thing.

However, some have left just because they are tired, not tired of anything in particular, just tired. You know what they say, a change is as good as a rest.

But the most missed are those that never planned to leave in the first place.

I'm with Quasi on this one; KB's not a life sentence.

If one finds oneself bothered by losing touch with any particular friend made via these public forums, one can always just write them a letter or email, telephone them, or turn up on their doorstep and presume upon their hospitality for a cup of tea.

There are certainly a few plonkers who post on KB, and frankly, I relish the opportunity to put the boot into any individuals who personally offend me. Aside from that, the posters on the forum seem more or less a reflection of society and human nature; wishing for things to be otherwise is just silly.

Perhaps I just have a particularly thick pair of rose-tinted spectacles?

kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.

This is not directed at anyone in particular... but I think my issue comes into it when people have to be bitchslapped (as you call it) and bitchslapped over and over again because of the same old shit, and they don’t alter their behaviour and this starts hurting others... then I start to wonder....

But yes I agree with you.... people do leave for many reasons....

I do, and they do - which actually adds to the friendship in some respects. The formative basis of that friendship has gone, been removed and yet the friendship endures. There are one or two like that, and while I hear from them rarely, I'm all the happier when I do.

And points of principle which the masses in society (and KB) seem to gleefully ignore in their longing to be in the crowd as they satisfy their bloodlust on whomsoever happens to be defenceless on the day.
