Anti-fog lining on visor

while cleaning my helmet recently (including some gross splats which had somehow made it to the inside of my visor) I noticed what looked like gum (as in the kind from envelopes, glue type, not 'chewing' type). As i rubbed at it to my horror i discovered it was a tear (?) in the antifog lining and it got to the size of an old 50c piece before brain kicked in and i realised what i was actually doing. It hasn't got any worse and doesn't affect the function or my vision (is near the bottom thankfully, not at eye level) but I wondered whether these linings can be replaced and if so how. Do you peel it off like sunburn or is it a case of "best leave it alone". Really annoyed with myself cos its an expensive helmet.

I bet thats where it will fog up the most and exactly where you need the vision the most from now on!

No, if it is a bonded lining, it's toast. You have to be nice and gentle cleaning them.
As it does not seem to be an issue, just leave it alone.

Don't worry so much, just be a little more gentle next time.

As for now, just leave it alone as you can't really replace the fine film as they're all bonded at the factory. But then again it all really depends on what type of helmet you have.

If it gets bad enough just grab yourself a 'fog city' insert.

Shoei's and Arai's have their own 'pin-lock' visors systems where you chuck on an anti-fog insert and it sits there (non-permanently attached). Goods shit those helmets....

just out of curiosity, if the damage was affecting your vision, would you just replace the visor? or would you need to buy an new helmet?
