Sounds like the bloody stupid moronic Brit doctors who left their kids alone whilst going out for dinner, like they can't afford a sitter. And gosh the daughter disappears. Put the bastards in gail and stopp all this the poor parents crap. If you can't be bothered to look after your kids properly DON'T HAVE THEM!!

His dad, get this, left him in the car while he went hunting. Got back to the car and ... quelle surprise ... kid had ambled off on a bit of an adventure. He's two. FFS.

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
    Wish you were here. QWQ

Just how stupid or irresponsible this guy is all depends on how old the older sibling is, I had to look after my younger brother and sisters from when I was very young, and many of our neigbours who were also farmers were the same. Not uncommon in rural areas at all. he shouldnt have gone hunting and left his kids behind like that, especially if the eldest wasnt up to the job.

Bet it was longer than 2 hours, at least its not that cold out and little kids are resilient.

Geez hope they find the child ok, and i hope the dad gets done by the cops too, that is bloody neglect. But whats sad is that this dad will likely get off lighter than these "Bad Parents"whom smack their kids.

    Unhappy shit!

Poor little one - can you imagine how scared he'll be.
I think about how my littlies would be if they were out there, lost, in the dark and rain, and it chokes me up a bit.

I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow, after, if he's not found by then, I might go and join the search

    Agree wholeheartedly Maffoo!

The link in the first post of this thread said he'd been left with his 5 year old sister in the car. As i started to read this thread my first thought was "well, there but for the grace...." any parent, myself included, knows just how fast the little critters can disappear from you. How many have we heard say "oh, they were only just with me a minute ago"? Yet the kid has managed to take off only to be found 5 streets away etc. I have no sympathy for anyone who leaves their kid(s) in a car these days. Sure, me and my brother and sister (I'm the oldest) used to be left in the car while mum and dad did the grocery shopping but that was in the 70's before carjacking etc. was pretty much even heard of. And we knew it was more than our lives were worth if we got out of the car for anything other than an emergency! We also used to occasionally sleep in the back of the stationwagon while our parents played table tennis, (also back in the "good ole....") but society has changed so dramatically there is no way they'd do it if they had their time again in todays social climate. Face it, kids DO change your routine/responsibility focus/tie you down/ etc. etc. etc. If you can't be bothered adjusting your lifestyle because of them you shouldn't have 'em. (and before anyone decides to have a go over us being left to sleep in the car while the olds played tabletennis - it was only for an hour or so and the car was right outside the hall. No one is suggesting that you live the next 18 years of your life tied to your child's right wrist).

    I know!!

He had two kids he could have used as bait, and he took neither.

Maybe he was high after all.

I may be the paranoid kind, but I never left my son in the car or even alone in the house when at this age. Now he's 10 and I'm starting to relax and let him go swimming by himself (albeit keeping an eye on him from afar) for example.

It may be a little more effort to cart them around the supermarket or out on a walk, or wherever...but they are a parent's responsibility, and you can't take shortcuts on that ever.

A five year old left in charge of a two year old in the middle of the forest? And police are considering charging the father? Unbelievable!

Yes, we all probably got left alone at some stage in our lives at a young age - while mum popped over to see a neighbour, or was in a shop, etc but IN THE MIDDLE OF A BLOODY FOREST WHILE DAD IS OFF HUNTING? Sorry, but that really is taking things too far. What would have happened if there was a forest fire (look at all the fires down south right now) or the kid had found a lighter and set fire to the car? Anything could have happened and leaving two kids with a combined age of half that of the legal age to leave a child alone is asking for trouble.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Jesus, when my 2 year old is scared and starts crying, she sometimes sounds like a hurt deer (or llama). This guy should be kicked in the bollocks hard.

    Setting the story straight!!!

As a person was actually at the search for the 2 yr old boy...I know a thing or two about what really happened...please do not take everything you read in the media as the truth...as adults we should all be well aware that they defintly exagarate the truth ALL THE TIME!
The father of the child actually only left the children in the car for approximately 15 - 20mins. He had gone to get a pig which was about 20m in to the bush from the road. He heard the kids voices, realised they had got out of their car seats, the 5 year old had opened the car door and was calling out to him. He raced straight back to the car...to obviously find that the 2 yr old had got out of the car and was missing...without any cell phone reception he frantically ran around the roads, with his girl, and into the bush looking for him for at least an hour. At that point, although not wanting to leave, he had to drive to the main road to call police. Since the boy had first gone missing IT WAS 2HRS by the time the police had got there and the search with dogs had begun. It was truely a horrible night, and the father was obviously distraught and acknowledging that he should have never ever have left them. Should he face charges??? I think he probably should...but at the same time he was defintley punished that night. Search and Rescue did an amazing job, and there was alot of tears when he was found!

I was meant to write above as a person WHO was actually at the search...
