The suit. I think you'll find the smile was a little laugh as in yes that would be amusing but won't happen type.

Knock yourselves out! Last year we nearly took out an award with a comparatively small number of votes cast by our members. A concerted effort this year will see us win something without doubt!

    Um.

    Just a moment, folks.

Let's say KB wins an award.

    What happens then?

Oh, yeah, every idiot from Kaitaia to Bluff logs on.

    I can't wait.

In my humble opinion, quality growth of participation on KB will come via word-of-mouth in the motorcycling community, not 'web awards' published for the delectation of the unwashed masses.

    Wanna bet?

This place is a fucking utopia of refined intellect compared to the likes of the TradeMe forums and whatnot.

And, frankly, KB is good, when it is good, because of the real-world motorcycling connections. Every Joe Bloggs No-Bike who logs on for shits and giggles fucks up that signal-to-noise ratio.

Your problem, I think, is with the real-world motorcyclists who hassle and offend each other. Doesn't matter. It's still real. I'm talking about meaningless internet-only bullshit here.

2 points, and Im sorry that I contribute to taking this off topic...

1 - it has fuck all to do with me now, but there are actually guidelines that Spank set about who can be a member and who cannot, the question is in the new mod team who knows those guidelines?

2 - When KB is good you say... of late is has a shimmer of "goodness" once in a blue moon...

Can you link to or quote those? I wasn't aware of them. That sounds interesting.

I dunno, my dear, I have great fun shooting the shit with my friends here and using the forum to arrange regular rides and other social occasions. I even enjoy the occasional pitched battles with the likes of katman and dipshit.

Maybe the goodness has a lot more to do with how we personally use the forum, than with what it objectively is or is not?

I found about four or five sections to vote KB in. Hope you win them all...
