Depends where in the country you end up. Track Time is probably the only general official style track day program around, but most tracks have open test days - if you've been browsing here you would have seen plenty of mention of these - more so for the North Island - Puke, Taupo & Manfield, but they have them down south as well.

They run 3 "have a go days" at the local track (Ruapuna) run by the local club with members offering rider training etc but every Tuesday and Friday you can hire the track for $40 for 1/2 a day and do as many laps as you want although sometimes if there's a few cars they alternate with 20 min sessions

The front page link to the track in CHCH only mentions cars. Do you know if there are bike days on it?

Mentioned in another thread But ---the pacific club actually have 2 "have a go " sessions during the race days they are running. You Get 2 20 minute sessions on the track and itll only cost ya $10.00
I think if you flag marshal during the day tou might get a free session

I keep seeing "Bucket racing" take this is a kind of forgotten era race series?ie, all the old "nobody wants me bikes" to make racing cheaper.

yeah done a couple of these and there good. however probably more suited to the faster riders as racers generally have a thrash in here too. but hey for $10 you can hardly call it anything but a bargain

im sure k14 will know this he seems to be pretty keen on them. the prices vary depending on the track and whether its a test day or track day. normally 80-100 bucks dearest ive paid for was tracktime at pukekohe 130 bucks. best value for money i think is the honda riders club ones at taupo. 100 bucks for heaps of track time. limited numbers. lots of instructors and a great feed. only problem is they hold them in the middle of the week.

thats cause the car club are a bunch of tossers who would rather the bikes bugger off and not annoy them by taking weekends they want to race their 4 wheel shitters around

see my previous post about how to get track time there or pm me.
