    Licensing shambles

I have just got my 6 full. Like two weeks ago. Yet my license expires in 2010, 10 years from when I got my class 1!

Why does getting a new license not reset the ten years that licenses last, if I let my class 1 lapse will I still have the remaining 8 years on my class 6?

Or are LTNZ being greedy fucks?

your licence simply expires initially after 10 years, then after the 5 (eg 25th, 35th etc) birthday.

it's not like you have to resit anything.

Yeah its a load of bollocks,
did my learners, restricted and full bike license over the last year,
and got a new license every time and it still expires this year.
so i have to pay for another one in march.......
So that makes 4 i'll have payed for in one year.

    Total crap.

It should last for ten years from the time you got ya last new license..

damn thats a bugger if you have to resit the eye test.

Ive never had a visibility problem when riding except for reading street signs, and road signs from a long way off.

But when they tell me my eye certificate has expired, I dont even bother attempting the test anymore. Its a load of shit anyway.

People on the road may have better eyesight, but whats the point if you are staring at a mobile phone screen whilst driving?

Listen up folks, You were bestowed with and paid for, "LIFETIME" license". Uncle Helen and the Comrades, could see dollars disappearing, and therefore decreed that the "LIFETIME" license actually had a finite life. Purely driven by greed you understand, and following the "Citizen ID" photo license that was the biggest swindle that has ever been perpetrated against the NZ public ,with the exception of the ("anti-smacking an electoral reform" bills) This is communists at their disruptive best. Commonsense says that none of these "ideals" work, yet the apathetic NZ public allow them to trial their social experiments upon the masses without a discenting word. So you sow, thus you shall reap. Good luck in the next election, I will be offshore permanently, but sadly Helen still a voter.

Nicely phrased I must say :-)
It seems there is a definite down-side to the all kiwi "she'll be right mate" attitude.
I don't understand how the government can do some of the things they do without even attempting to garner public support. Legalising prostitution for example. For it or against it you've gotta admit it's a major social reform, and yet no-one has asked the public opinion on th matter.

Your anti-communist rant would have greater merit if based on fact.

As I recall, the changes to driver licencing were drafted by the last National government, and were introduced under Jenny Shipley's leadership.

I suggest that you pull your head out of your arse before heading overseas.

Photo licences allow the police to check that it is infact YOU that produced the licence and you are not telling fibs or attempting to use a document i.e. fraudulently misrepresenting yourself and also failing to provide your correct details.

A licence photo therefore needs updating every 10 years to keep up with your sagging features and loss of hair.

You think licences are bad - compare it to your passports - they are required to be renewed every 5 years nowadays.... just in case you are a terrorist or suddenly develop and fetish for C4.

Lets face it - it is a handy form of I.D when you need it.
