It was good to see Annette King say on the news last night that they will not have to pay this bill, as the system was not set up with situations like this particular one in mind.

I had to wonder what situations would require the victim to have to pay for legal costs??? Sounds pretty fucked up to me.

Most of the time when reading the paper or listening to the news I hear all of this carry on and it disturbs me that slides past me like water on a ducks back but I guess this happens to most after a while. However hearing that this family who lost thier dad now has a legal bill to pay. I have since heard they won't have to pay it but even receiving a letter advising they do must be a horible feeling for them to have to endure on what is already a crap situation.

This story has been in my head for the last few days and disturbs me. So I want to know is it the sensible sentencing that helps fight for these people as I might try and find a token $$ or two to send their way. Also where am I best to find political parties view points on this, eg what key words should I use to find the info as this is now on my list of reasons to vote.
