    its payback thats why

Makes up for all the wanky brandy & cigar "gentlemans clubs" of times
past - where women weren't allowed.

I think there are some male only gyms....you just need to look
in the right places. Look in the classified section - its true

Gyms tend to be enough of a sausage fest as it is already without having male only areas!

But shouldn't part of going to the gym be building up the confidence to be able to deal with people of the opposite sex being around while you're working out?

Hell, some may believe that ALL women that go to women only gyms are hardcore feminists and lesbians, who think that there is no use for men in society. And again, that is fine, as to some degree and percentage it may be true (in the same way that SOME men who MIGHT use a men only gym, MAY be homosexual).

But, are you trying to tell me that there are no homosexual / lesbian people at co-ed gyms? And why the hell does that even matter. It is irrelevant, and had nothing to do with my original point.

And, upon further consideration, I guess my beef is with Women Only SECTIONS, of co-ed gyms. I can live with gyms that are in their entirety, women only. But I CAN'T live with co-ed gym's providing for one group, and not the other. That is discrimination. If Les Mills can't afford to make two sections, one women only and one men only, then they shouldn't make one in the first place.

Can ANYONE see the fundemental point I'm trying to make?

It's that statement that really pisses me off. Seen it with the race issue and with the sex issue.

    Reverse discrimination is still discrimination.

That doesn't mean I have a problem with girls-only gyms, I don't. Then again I don't have a problem with Gentlemen clubs and firmly believe they should be allowed. Don't even really have a problem with someone getting thousands in grants just coz they got 1/16th maori in them.

But if we talking about discrimination, IT'S ALL DISCRIMINATION. There is no such thing as good discrimination and bad discrimination. It's just as much human nature as judging people.

The only thing that pisses me off is people who buy that first statement of yours, because that's just hypocritical bullshit.

    Bloody ell.

How many chix are there, that are the type to hit on a bloke? Then take that number and compaire it with the number of blokes that regularly hit on chix.

Obviously, females in genral tend to get more attention than their male counterparts from the opposite sex.

Now, if you can imagine yourself as a pretty fit female. Imagine this. You wake up, get ready at home then as soon as you step out of your house. You'll probably get hit on, in the train or in the bus, in the office, at the lunch bar by almost anything with a penis. It's not just getting hit on, it'll be the eyeing up and down your fit body (your still supposed to imagine your self as a hot chick here). Every male from a 15 year old zit faced with a boner to an 80 year old man who probably wished he had a bonner like the 15 year old will be having sexual thoughts about you.

    Now hold that thought.

Normally people go to the gym to forget about all their day to day worries and basically take a break from it all. It is one of thoes feel good things that you can do in your busy cityslicker life style as a stress relife. Now just from the previous thought, why on earth would you want to still worry about some bloke getting a boner from the view of your ass or tits or legs, as you are working out?

You can stop imagining that you are a hot chick now.

I suspect that it all gets a bit too much when all these women are wanting to do is take a break and work out.

Compair that to your normal life style. I am sure you get hit on by the ladies and everything but generally it would be no where near to the same extent as the frequency of passes that would have been made if you were a female. If a chick made a pass at you at the gym, would you take it as a compliment or an offence? Compliment ofcourse! That's cause it don't come to us often enough to make us sick o fit (should I be speaking for myself only here?).

SO... You have female gyms for ladies and then there are the other gyms for male and females cause let's face it, male only gym would just be gay.

Why do these differences exist? Because of society, culture and a bit of genetics ofcourse, but you already knew that. You could have figured this out as well, if you just gave it a bit of thought.

    Peace, MR.

Really? Women only sections got you pissed off? Well they could argue on religious grounds saying that they are trying to cater to the muslim community or some other similar equally authentic piece of pig poo.

This is taking the rant down a detour but the end destination is the same. What pisses me off is the slagging that guys get in the ads. All they are are scruffy, simple minded idiots who just about manage to tie one shoe lace before they forget how to tie the other. While women are always beautiful, hourglass figure (no matter their age), very smart and usually pitying, saving, helping or defeating a guy. From the air new zealand ad to the mcdonalds ad to the power company ad, etc, etc, etc........

explain please. How is it that there is a womens space in uni a maori space a pacific island space etc yet no white male space??

We are now the minority, work hard and get nothing!

hypoocritical is the fact that if you hire a man over a women with both having equal qualities it is discrimination, the other way around it is not . To me this is not either making sense or fair.

    Agree with you Stonechucker

Stonechucker - here's a plug for my gym, where there are no posers, no segregation, great spin & boxing circuit classes, is a privately owned gym ie. not a franchise/Les Mills chain, yadda yadda. Join DC Fitness Innovations in Tawa!

I refused to join Les Mills or BodyWorks and the like because of the 'elitist' and 'poser' attitute. In many cases you pay through the nose AND then have to pay additional for classes. Then from what you've said, haven't got access to all parts of the gym as there is a 'womens only' area.
Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
