    CBR250r regulator/rectifier?

Hey guys, so I'm having some problems with my bike and it's all leading to the regulator/thingy... Apparently this problem is kinda common for Honda bikes (like the one only problem ) so I'm wondering if anyone knows where's a good place or if anyone has a spare regulator round for me to buy?

At the moment I'm looking on Ebay for a new one for about $150 but would prefer a used but non-broken one in NZ.

Also is it possible that anyone knows another kinda bike which uses the same regulator that I could look at buying aswell.

Shout at me on here or send a PM and that'd be great!!!

Any advice at all greatly appreciated

    Hi,

Yeh quite a few CBR models etc use that type - the NC30 ones give lots of trouble too.
You can use nearly any 3 phase type and preferably a larger one that has fins.
    - yours is the resin filled type that just uses the case as a heatsink ay?

You can use aftermarket types imported by Eurobike and sold through bike shops
that are way cheaper than new but are reliable.

Usually they have one red going to the battery positive , one black earth and three yellow stator wires.
However colours differ and some also have a ignition feed.

    Cheers

Ah ok, maybe I'll check out some shops see what prices they have the aftermarket ones around. Good to know a few bikes use them! Yeah I don't think this stock one has much in the way of heat sinking, some of the ones online had special features for cooling etc.

Best deal i found when my NC30 rectifier craped out was from Red Baron, $150 from memory, $300/$350 every where else.
Don't be surprised if you need a new battery aswell, the high voltage will probably have fried it, along with maybe a few of your dash lights.
The one i bought seemed to be of pretty good quality with built in heat shrink.

You were lucky it didn't fry your igniter as they are battery fed - we used to charge a lot for them at the wreckers.
$150 sounds good for a new reg/rect and should be checked out!

I had my RG250 and my RG500 both burn out regs,
it's a real weak point in a bikes electrical system.

Yeah, i stumbled upon the Red Baron reg out of desperation really, as i'm not to fond of them (a previous servicing problem) and don't really bother to shop there any more. But i had rung a wrecker close to Barons during the week who had told me he had new regs for $350 and that he would be there on Sat from 9am. I arrived at 9 and waited for over an hour, got pissed off with that and decided to check out Red Baron since they were so closeby. And to my luck they had a new for $150 complete with fins etc.
