Talking Questions from a rider of synthetics on riding with leathers.

Finally got myself some leathers.Quasimoto had some end of the line stuff going cheap.Good quality stuff. Looking forward to breaking it in.Now what should I use to waterproof it and what to use to care for it ? I already got a name for any future alteration/modifications eg knee sliders etc.Is it better to just get a cheap waterproof oversuit, any anyone can recommend ?

If its raining hard enough to worry about waterproofing...get an oversuit. I have one and in real adverse conditions it keeps the wind chill out as a bonus.

All our leathers have Beeswax rubbed into them.
Its great but will only repel a light shower. If it is pissing down you need "wets"

I'm another fan of Beeswax. There are a number of beeswax products, but the one i use is called "Effax". It contains beeswax, lonolin, and avacado oil. Freshly treated my leathers can take up to 3 hours of west coast rain.

I should have added that you won't get Effax from any motorcycle shop. You'll need to go to an equestrian shop. Its also used for treating horse gear like saddles etc.

All of the Above is perfect, do it every six month, one before winter, one before summer, that way dry in winter , and you wont dry out the leather in summer. Easy

An added benefit is that, if stranded, you have enough supplies to prepare a simple, but tasty meal.

A set of waterproofs rolled up in a bum bag. Then no need to worry about wet riding.

I clean my leathers with saddle soap and then oil them with Tanner's Oil. Again this solution is brought to us by those awfully nice horsey people.
