HELP! Is it the Starter Relay or motor

My Starter system has packed up. When I try to start my GPX the relay just clicks. Is it the relay that has packed up, or is it the starter motor?
The battery is fine. I recharged it last night. And I even tried via my car battery.
    Any help would be appreciated

I think it is the starter motor as I bypassed the solenoid by going straight from +terminal to the lead on starter....nothing!

Are the two "big posts" on the relay accessible to be "bridged by a single jumper lead, or screw driver?
If so, make certain the bike is in neutral.
Bridge the posts, making sure you don't earth the cable/screw driver to the frame/engine.( a "strike spark" may occur,so make sure no fuel or flammable items are close).
If the engine winds over easily, then you can expect the relay is at fault.
If the starter doesn't work, then suspect the starter is at fault.
Clutch "lock out" switches and other protection circuits could be at fault if the starter motor works.

If that is the case, source a wiring diagram, some CRC, and a multimeter.
    Good Luck.
PS. I'm assuming all other electrical circuits are fine.
PPS. The bridge wire need to be heavy duty like a car jumper lead.

Yep...I have tried arcing the terminals on the relay...nothing happened. Have also bypassed relay altogether by going straight from Batt + to Starter motor (where the cable bolts in). So now am of the assumption starter is rooted

"Bump start" it through the weekend, and price out a service kit for it next week.
Or have a chat to a local Auto Sparky.(sometimes they can source after market brushes for a fraction of the cost). The internal components are probably due for a bit of attention.(commutator may need machining etc).

If you've tried going directly to the battery and still nothing it's most likely brushes
They're replaceable and an easy job, just get an OEM carbon brush kit (Parts: 21039-1001 (+)brush, 21039-1056 (-)brush, & 2x 2104-1053 spring) not sure of the kit number. There are cheap aftermarket kits but the brush material is crap.

Pull it off and have a look, most starters are pretty fixable , as others have said may just be brushes, sometimes they can sieze in their holders not making good contact or just plain worn out.

Sounds like brushes... get an autosparky to rebuild it - you don't need OEM brushes.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
