    Tommy's new ride...

TOM CRUISE - CRUISE TO RECEIVE FIRST NEW DUCATI SUPERBIKE

Hollywood superstar TOM CRUISE will be the first man on earth to rev up Ducati's latest superbike. Keys to the $72,500 (GBP36,250) Desmosedici RR model will be handed over to the Mission: Impossible star at the Beverly Hills Ducati garage in California later this week (begs28Jan08). Only 1,500 of the red-and-white motorcycles have been made. Ducati spokesman Michael Lock says, "We are delighted to be able to deliver the world's first production unit here in the USA to Tom Cruise, who is a well-known Ducati enthusiast." The new bike has a top speed of 200 miles (322 kilometres) per hour.

My ridiculous amount of envy is mitigated slightly by schadenfreude after reading the UK Superbike magazine review which stated that the Desmo' was a very difficult bike to ride, verging on unpleasant for anyone below professional racer level.

Yes, that does alleviate things a tad, but not by much. Can't say I'm a big fan of his, so it doesn't make it any easier.

Why couldn't they choose Brad Pitt? He's a Ducati fan too.

Go easy on Tom - he has a hard life. Millions of dollars, beautiful wife, head of a cult. A free bike like that only makes up for some of his suffering.

As I said on another forum yesterday when the news broke, I now have a strong distrust of Ducati...

I didn't know that Ducati were making them in 3/4 size?

Scienctologists are the authourities on everything, including motorcycles. They would've instructed Ducati to make it in the right size for him.

I have little respect for somebody who has had carnal knowledge of both Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes. It's just not right.
