What do you drive and why ??

Im keen to know what us speed freacks drive by way of car, if any of course. Motorbikes arent always practical so cars do have a place (did I say that) its a bit hard for me to put all 4 family members on the ZXR, though I seen it done before on a Gp125
Anyway for me I drive
Pajero 4x4 long wheel base , great for loading up on long trips and camping trips etc, good tow car
VW VR6 2.8 lt 184 kw grunter , why cause I love the power and the growelling engine in full song, not very practical but awesome

So what ya got for a driver people ???

'97 Mitsi VR4 Sedan (fuck this common wagon legnum shit). 4wd, 205kw 2.5L V6 Twin Turbo.
Dunno why they bothered putting traction control on it, with the Active Yaw Control, you'd have to be a complete munter to get the thing sideways, theres no way you could do it accidentally.

Edit: Oh, the why part. Because I like quick cars, plus, the only time I can listen to my music loud without pissing off the neighbours is in the car.
Had a 300zx previously, very much enjoyed that car. great open road cruiser, very predictable when you're giving it a hiding.

Suzuki Escudo 4wd. Good for loading up with dive gear, and kayak on top to get to those out of the way dive sites. Good off road vehicle. And being a 1600cc it's not as costly on the fuel as other 4wds.

Oh yeah, and I drive a Mercedes for work.

Vicki drives a 93' Mitsi Magna s/w. It uses a bit of gas but reliable as all get out (we have done 160,000km in it total now well over 200,000) and it gets the crap pounded out of it in supermarkets all day. When we are on holiday it's great for the kayaks too 'cos it is so long and we can throw a ton of munt in the back! Brill car but has all the conering performance of a breeze block. It's called Moby Dick 'cos it's a big white whale...

I drive a 1989 Starlet XL. GREAT car. Cost nothing to buy, cost next to nothing to run and you can park anywhere and who cares? When it expires i'll just set fire to it on the side of the road and steal another one... I commute 100km a day in it and it costs less than the train for goodness sake!

Tough as nuts (faaaaark, i just complemented a honda!). Economical. Pulls trailers. LOTS of trailers. Trailers full of Gib, old baths, limestone chip, roof batons etc. Nobody tries to race me from the lights in it either.

You can't renovate (rebuild / restore) houses using ya cickle. I challenge ya. Myabe if you had a really strong neck you could probably do the Indian style "balance it on the head" trick - but i reckon the would proabably be interested in someone cruising the main with 10 sheets of 3.6m gib on their noggin...

Will soon need a CHEAP UTE, or a trailer that folds away (no gargre) to take my bucket out to 'puna. I want my bucket!

Have a trusty old 89 Corolla only 1300cc and a 5spd. But she took me to Cape Reinga and back in 22 hours - with toilet and meal breaks and 2 hours break at the cape. Lovely cheap reliable car.

For the weekends I got my dear 94 MR2 also a 5spd - The best thing this side of a Ferrari I guess. Mid-engine rear wheel drive and it hardly weighs anything - bring on the twisties It's the closest thing for the price to a real go-kart.:spudbooge

but I have my sisters 94 celica for a week (parked the moment i got back from dropping her at the airport)
would get a cage if I didnt have a bike and had to actually walk somewhere

I have the 94 version. Toyota changed most of the technical bits about then, engine, suspension, etc - so it is a little bit more user friendly.

But yes you have to be very careful as infront all you have is the battery and a spare tyre. In the back you have yourself, the gear box and the engine and worse still the power (rear-wheel drive) comes from the back too. So there is a lot more weight in the back that is fighting to get in front.

The car is easy to spin if you don't know what you are doing. NEVER slow down in a turn or you'll be going straight to the panel beaters or even the hospital if you were too fast.

But get it right and that light front end means you can enter corners much faster than the average car. I can take a traffic roundabout easily at 50kmph without the car losing its calm - feels the same at 20kmph in my corolla.

I love it. Hey if you get a chance try and drive a pre 89 MR2 - look at the pic. They are - Really, if you don't come back smiling - you must be getting old . Sure the 94 looks better. And is a better car in most other respects but it looses out to the pre 89 cars in terms of its "fun factor".

Now don't get me started on cars - or you will have to ban me from this forum - cos I won't be able to shut-up

A 1990 Mazda MX5, blue, 1600, completely standard. It's not fast, but I love the top down cruising on a hot day. Got zero boot space, partly since I've got a cd changer in there. Only 2 seats, so not a family car by any means...

Anyway - my real question. What do cop cars have done to them? Don't tell me they are a stock standard car off the Holden showroom.

No I'm not after the laser guided missile systems and x-ray cameras you have - just the bits that make them go faster. And whats the top speed? If you say something over 250 - I would find it hard to swallow.

I have a 1989 MX5 that I use for driving to work, for now. It's just been repainted and apparently its for sale so I can buy some boring 4 door sedan cause Chris doesn't like travelling in our Navara. Bummer cause it looks so pretty. They're gutless but run on the smell of an oily rag and handle extremely well. When I'm not out on the bike I cruise in my 60 T Bird, it rocks. 352 V8, uses shit loads of gas, handles like a big american whale but looks cool and sounds great when I've got the caps off the lake pipes.
