i wonder what u are wearing when ya go to ur garage.. :-)
Yes that is a crack. Get a new frame from the wreckers, repair that one or do nothing more than place a sticker over it.......
Antrax are you saying that this is nothing serious?
No I'm not saying that. I personally would see if some one could repair that or would swap the frame over. Is that the only crash damage?
rear brake pedal got complity wasted and that crack. but how could it crack so easily? only 2mm got erazed.
could it be welded?
can i ask and moderator to move this post in to the appropriate thread.

thanks
Those pics are not clear enough to say what we are looking at, but....from what I see there is something there, and you need that looked at by someone that knows what they are looking at, in person. Never take a risk with any structural damage to a frame mate, get that looked at properly before you ride it away!
Are you sure its a crack, looks to me that it had a welded joint there that has been worn away, and waat you think is a crack could be just the edge of the alloy weld. I would cet it crack tested by your local engineers![]()
If you can wait three weeks, I will be qualified to inspect for you, I am off on an NDT operators course next week.
This is a "poor mans dye penetrant test"
If you have a file and sand paper, you can clean it up yourself a little, you are after a smooth finish, but not polished. Give it a blast with some contact cleaner, let it dry and then press a black vivid marker onto the line. Put some contact cleaner or meths onto a clean rag and wipe it once in a smooth straight motion.
Now using a bright light set at an angle you can see if it is a crack or not. A magnispying glass is also really helpful too.
The vivid ink will wick in, if it is a crack, and make it show up better.
If you are still in doubt, take it to an engineering shop.
vagrant
"when in doubt, check it out"
we would all hate to see another "i crashed" thread because your bike broke apart hitting a bump on the motorway
if it wasn't so expensive i'd say "if in doubt, chuck it out" - but this should be repairable with a bit of welding
and nice work boots you've got there![]()
That's what I thought too.
If you look at the last pic, where it's "erased" (I think you mean ground away), the front part of the frame has been spliced in at an angle, and this is the edge of it.
Regardless of that, it's not something you should take a chance with. If it is a crack, then it will probably fail the next WOF.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
