How did that happen, Hiflyer? Did you just leave the bike out in the rain too often or something?

Na ive got a cover and cleaned my discs etc, the mechanic (george from motorcycle docs's great guy actually) said that even if i hadnt cleaned them they still shouldnt have seized up. . . especially after only 12000kms
apparently it wasnt my faut and its shoddy parts, which i dont understand cos havent suzuki and hyosung been making eachothers parts for years now?
but yea im quitepeeved about that but lucky he found it cos thats dangerous man! They were so bad that wen the bike was on its stand you couldnt spin the front wheel freely
That is lucky. I've had a few issues with mine too, such as the inner header pipe splitting and making this horrible rattling noise. I think it's a bit of a combination of some bike parts just being defective and the overall bike being that much cheaper than others and therefore not as good.
Have you ridden any other bikes? I took my flatmates Suzuki Bandit 1200 out for a bit of a ride and I couldn't believe how much better everything on it was than the Hyo. Brakes, clutch, gears, everything just seemed so much smoother and engineered so much better.

yea ive ridden 2 other bikes, a 1999 250 bandit and my uncles 199? duc monster 696 (but that was just down the road and back)
and the bandit wasnt that much better, just noticed that the gears just clicked in2 place rather than the CLUNKon my hyo
and the Duc was awesome! i want one! Sooo smooth and generally all round a better bike. and of course theres the speed compared to a 250. luckily the brembo's were enough to stop, and also scare the crap outta me haha.
but yes the Hyo's have a long way to go quality wise, could be faulty parts (or lack of a quality supervision team haha) or maybe theyre just buying the cheaper parts to make the bike cheap? I dunno but the definatly have a good base to start on.
just remember that the 250's are made to be cheap and nasty. they are developed for a price point not to be awesome.

12,000ks on my original Hyo OEM chain and I've got several tight links, time to replace, the sprockets seem fine though.
The dealer agrees the stock chains are pretty poor and if you getting more than 8000ks out of them your doing well.
well i guess we did awesome! haha
and yea 250's arent the best obviously but i think some of the quality issues are with new bikers like myself not knowing exactly what to do maintinence wise. but hey better to make mistakes on bikes that cant reach 150 easily than to d it on a bike that goes 150 in 2nd gear. . . .
I just put a D.I.D O ring chain on and it's made heaps of difference the drive train is so much quieter and smoother should have done this a long time ago.
I have an X-ring chain on the bike now, the old one used to make this rattling noise if you pulled the clutch in and just coasted along. Not the case anymore thankfully.
