    Redundancy sucks!!

As some of you are aware my job has been hanging in the balance for a couple of months due to a merger taking place at the end of March. Today was the day that all was revealed, and yes, my job is gone. Bum, bum, poos and wees! is all I can say.

Time for a re-think on the future. Thinking at this stage is to return to contract book keeping, at least that way I retain control. I used to be very busy, but hours could be erratic. That was one of the reasons I took up full time paid work, a bit of regular income, and getting paid for Public holidays!!!

Someone at work suggested sending Maha man out to do more hours and become a kept woman, I like the sound of that

But that is mean, and I love him with a bit of energy left at the end of the day really

So guys, bring on the small contracts, or even some big ones, seems I will be freeeeee to please myself at the end of March!

That's a major bummer! Are you at least getting a decent pay out?

Redundancy certaily sux. On the bright side there is allegedly a shortage of labour so you can pretty much have a choice of what you do next.

Contract bookkeeping is a very cool service, I used one for about 9 years and it left me to run the company and not worry about all the compliance crappola. The worst thing about self-employment ... provisional tax!

    LOL, NOPE!

My contract does not allow for redundancy payouts. I started this job about 15 months ago, and was 2 months in before I found out that the place was for sale.

If I had known, I would probably not taken the job. This is the third job sold out from under me in 6 years. You can see the desire to go back to being my own boss.

    Bugger!
But, as I have said before (and will again) it is not going to be hard for someone with your skills, abilities and charm to get whatever you want in the career department.
Tis a new door opening, girl, go and have some fun with it!

You are so right. I am still self employed with IRD as we have a flooring contracting business. I used to mentor for BITC, my speciality being business planning and financial management.

I enjoyed being "employed" and just putting my contribution in the books as capital introduced.......LOL

    I will, I promise!

I actually felt a bit sorry for my boss today. Our company is owned by a large Auckland business, so he is an employee like me. He kept saying things like, you will be fine, I kept saying no I wont, so it was really hard for him to come and tell me. I got to about 4pm and went to him and said "George, I have a huge attack of "dontgiveashititis" so I am out of here.

On my way home he sent me a txt telling me to go and spend $100 at the bottle store on the company.....LOL

As you can imagine with me, my arm was twisted right up my back, as I burned rubber down to the shops..LOL

Suxs alright Anne Im still smarting from mine.
I thought a minimum of two weeks redundancy pay was allowed for in the Employment Contracts Act, but Im not 100% sure, might be worth checking out, hey two weeks pay is two weeks pay.
Im sure Mark is more than prepared to support you, but being the lovely lady you are and the great team you both are understand why you want to work.
Someone will snap you up, no doubt

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?

I am not too worried about finding work really. It is where I have to go to get it that is my problem. I have no desire to do an hours commute morning and night really but if needs must I will. At least I can ride there now if it comes to it

Sorry to hear about your job...

By the sound of what others have said about you, you will have no trouble being recognised as an asset and snapped up quickly.

I'm in HR and there are some slack buggers out there looking for jobs, so good people are easier to spot
