I was quite sure they're banned but couldn't find anything doing a search in the Safety Gear or Road Racing chapters of the rule book. Have seen plenty of people using them.

I didn't tell ya this! BUT

This one time at racer camp, this guy, he took a drill and made some holes in a pair of his old ones and glued in lighter flints (looked like little white sticks - sorry I'm a girl) - they worked reallll good. Got some awesome pics too.
