    vfr400 speedo removal

just setting up a nc30 race bike and have found 4002 ways to derestrict the bike but none on running it wthout the speedo. to the guys racing these how have you gone about loping off the speedo??

have had a fiddle but seemed to just keep going into super wonderful safe mode.

If you do the mod that remove the speed limiter with the ceramic resitor thing ,you should then be able to remove your speedo with out the safe mode happening.

It's bloody easy. There's 3 wires that go into the speedo, can't remember the colours but they have a flat 3 pin plug near the speedo. One of 'em is an earth, one has power and the other switches on and off with the speed limiter....join the power and the on/off one and cut the earth and off ya go. easy. I'll try to find the colours for ya.....

    You don't need a resistor.

i think i have it sorted. i can get the bike to rev out without speedo so praise be that it worked. just wired up the two wires on taht 3 pin plug and left the centre green one alone.

haha yea i thought something like that. i think its got a 2.4kohm in there. does it have to be 2.2 or is it a rough one (have seen some place people using 3.3kohm ones)
