Wanted: Luggage rack and pack for a VTR1000

    Hey all
I want to buy a luggage rack for my bike for an up and coming tour.
Would prefer with a pack if possible.
Anyone here got such a thing they would like to sell?
Or recommend a brand and model?
Will be touring for about two weeks so will need to hold a bit of stuff, (but not camping gear)
    Cheers all

Ventura racks are good if you just want to put a pack on (as opposed to getting hard cases like givi make), my catalogue only goes up to '03, but i doubt the vtrs have changed in the tail area, in which case the ventura part number is H109 for the L brackets, and no other bike's l-brackets will fit (not even ones from a vtr SP1/2).

The rack however (part number PF14 for a large rack, SR14 for the sport rack) is a common one and many other bikes' racks will fit. I've attached the catalogue so you can see for yourself (this makes it easy if you goto the wreckers, that ol frame the guys had for years and hasnt sold off god knows what bike might just also fit yours ) Sorry its not the latest one, but she's all i've got!

Last tour i did on the tl i didnt have a pillion (she was riding as well), so i just used pannier bags (motoline? from motomail) and bungied my sleeping bag across the rear seat.
Have also attached a pic of my old (and way overloaded) GSXR, i swear to god theres a kitchen sink in the back there! The joys of two up riding touring

p.s. if you go the ventura way, will pay to try and get one asap, because sometimes they have to be made from scratch

Hi there. I have the VTR1000 with Ventura rack with two bags. I zip on both for a tour (one sits on the back of the seat, the other on the rack) and use one on a day to day basis. They get regular use. Generally I have found them good, but in heavy rain the back tire flicks up water and the underneath of the second bag will leak so any gear like sleeping bag/clothing I put into plastic bags. Otherwise sweet. My cousin on a VFR uses a hard bag( Givi) and comparing both I prefer my set-up.
    Cheers

Yup, this is the same setup I had on my VTR and it worked a treat. I think the whole setup costs just over $500 for the pack frame, L brackets and the two bags.

Also, here's a pic of what the pack rack looks like on the bike.
