Question Do we need an Early Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride?

Do We Need An Early Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride?

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...=57104&page=48 [post 715]

Yesterday, February 13, 2008 – a date which will live in infamy BuckBuckNo1 was suddenly and deliberately seen by certain members of the Kiwibiker community as disrupting a promulgated ride.

BuckBuckNo1 was at peace with that community, and at the solicitations of various members of the KB community, was still in conversation with other members of the KB community towards the maintenance of peaceful and safe riding practice within the Wellington region. Indeed one hour after the Wednesday Night ride commenced [yesterday evening] digital downloads of the KB forum were received on a mobile phone and delivered/shown to BuckBuckNo1 being a formal reply to an earlier message [post 690] of yesterday. While these digital forum replies essentially inferred that to have any other ride on a Wednesday evening would detract from the regular 6.30pm ride, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack………

The people of the Kiwibiker community in Wellington have already formed their opinions and well understand the very life and safety of our riding community each Wednesday night.

As a member of the Kiwibiker community, appreciated and respected by some, and not all, BuckBuckNo1 has taken appropriate measures.

Always will be remembered the character of the onslaught against BuckBuckNo1.

No matter how long it may take to overcome this current situation, the Kiwibiker community in Wellington, in their righteous might will win through to peaceful co-existence.

With confidence – with unbounding determination of the Kiwibiker community at large,
There is room enough, on the roads, in the carparks, and at the cafes for all who enjoy the spirit of riding, no matter wherever or whenever. And if BuckBuckNo1 wants to co-ordinate a ride that will be limited to five riders on a Wednesday Night between now and end of daylight saving then, please God, may we ride safe.

There is no need for another Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride, however if four other riders [including L-Plate riders and Restricted riders] want to ride earlier with BuckBuckNo1, then those decisions can be made either ahead of time by PM or at the duckpond carpark on the night. When it is all said and done, what is 15 minutes in the scheme of things if 5 riders leave early – if by coincidence the 6.30 group elect to head to the same destination in all likelihood, arrival times would be pretty close I would assume.

Guy, if you want to organise a ride, then just do it. You don't need anyone's permission to so.

I tried to put a poll up, but being in the Meeting forum, apparently did not work.

    General comment and feedback appreciated.

    Heads Up and Enjoy

I won't be able to make your rides BB#1 (or TCWNR usually for that matter) because I work too late, however I can see where you're coming from.
I don't really like getting home from a ride on a school night at 9 or 10 pm and especially don't like riding at a) dusk or b) night with tinted visor, and it's often quite nice to get home before it gets late (L platers especially need to consider this), and when the days start to get shorter and darker earlier, the idea of starting a ride earlier in order to get home earlier is a good idea in my opinion. So I say "Go for it Guy" and anyone who wishes to join you in a smaller group situation (which again can often be better for newer riders), and arrange it, but may be start a new thread that is a regular Wednesday night thing, or maybe arrange it for another night. Just a suggestion.
I think however that what got a few people in a tiz was that the arranging of your ride last night was done in TCWNR thread (not that I personally have an issue with it, hey shit, bigger things to worry about really), but I'm thinking this is what the problem was, not that you were arranging a ride that just happened to leave a bit earlier than the usual one.
    Anyway, good luck BB#1!

I think that if you want to organise a ride just do it BB1. It can be on any day, not necessarily on a Wednesday or every Wednesday. Just if you want to ride, txt your friends or write a thread... no big worry.

A strange post with good intent Guy.

    My opinion:
    1. People can organise rides leaving whenever they like, going where ever they like
    2. If a ride is on at the same time as another ride, see point 3
    3. People can choose to ride when and with whom they like
    4. Organising a new ride should not be done in an already existing ride thread

We are all adults that can make our own choices, the roads are plenty wide enough to support multiple bikes, there are plenty of daylight hours to ride in.

Rather than asking if we need a ride, just set it up and those that choose will join you.

I just asked (Via rep coloured red) if buckbuck had spent alot of time in the military.
    I now read his profile.
Thats alot of time in the military.

I agree with Kendog, good intentions but strange and in my opinion alienating.

Most, not all, of us have as one of our reasons for riding the overwheling sense of freedom.
Doesn't happen that way with regimental organisation, with most of us that is.

Do your thing if you wan't just don't pack a sad if hoards don't follow.

Buckbuck, use the big wide vision that is so important in safe riding to see that no one has any particular problem with you as a person or rider but that you may want to lighten up.

Intended as constructive (but blunt) advice.

Its not a fucken club, do what you want.

However I've noticed that TCWNR is sometimes lacking in numbers and your rides may possibly lower attendance even more.

Why don't you start BB#1 tuesday night ride. One in which people have to PM you to attend, because you'll keep the meeting place top secret and change it every time.
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.
