He's gone from being lumpen to square cut in an impressively short period of time. His self esteem hasn't caught up.

But geeze, don't call him skinny, you might be meaning it in a bad way that may make him sad and bitter and hate fat people for the rest of his life and remind them constantly about a fat person saying he was skinny once .....

Edit: in no way is this post referring directly to Paul (for those not up with the play)

It's always disturbing when people are reduced to obfuscatory use of the third person.

I'm not sure what the problem is. If members want to organise rides by PM or by advertising a designated rendezvous point to all comers, then they are entitled to do so. While organising rides with one's mates or whomever is a major part of Kiwi Biker's reason for being, the site's rules have no bearing on these activities, as they happen off the site.

Following its initiation by Uncle B three summers ago, TCWNR has become a biker institution in Wellington during the months of daylight saving. It has regulars who come and go, and a constant influx of newbies who may only participate for a couple of rides.

If people want to organise Wellington rides of the same type on Wednesday nights, they are entitled to do so. However, as a courtesy, these should have different rendezvous points to avoid confusion when their advocates/organisers are advertising them on this or any other site.

Nobody needs anybody else's permission to organise a ride. But a bit of courtesy and cooperation never goes amiss.

Do We Need An Early Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride – BuckBuckNo1’s Reply

When it is all said and done, what is 15 minutes in the scheme of things if 5 riders leave early – if by coincidence the 6.30 group elect to head to the same destination in all likelihood, arrival times would be pretty close I would assume.
I will continue to attend TCWNR, and if nobody wants to leave earlier, then I will join the main ride. If however, two, three or four riders approach me, either in the duckpond carpark or via PM prior and ask me if I would like to leave earlier, then a decision will be made at that time.

The word “should” is not in my dictionary in the context “go and ride somewhere else”

Thats alot of time in the military.

I agree with Kendog, good intentions but strange and in my opinion alienating.

Most, not all, of us have as one of our reasons for riding the overwheling sense of freedom.
Doesn't happen that way with regimental organisation, with most of us that is.

Do your thing if you wan't just don't pack a sad if hoards don't follow.

Buckbuck, use the big wide vision that is so important in safe riding to see that no one has any particular problem with you as a person or rider but that you may want to lighten up.

Intended as constructive (but blunt) advice.
Thank you for the constructive feedback koba much appreciated.

Several months ago, I spat the dummy because I unintentionally offended several people immediately following the KB Birthday evening, it would appear that I very well have done it again.

John Kirwan was told to ‘toughen up’ or perhaps HTFU, and his response was ‘find somebody else that understands and keep on asking until you do.’

Well I elected to join and choose to remain in this Kiwibiker community and in particular take onboard your comment: “use the big wide vision that is so important in safe riding to see that no one has any particular problem with you as a person or rider but that you may want to lighten up.”

There are numerous veterans in rider communities all over the world. Some may have done military service and not left their country but still step back out into the real world carrying baggage.

Well I reckon I have carried enough baggage over my lifetime it’s time to lighten up and shed some of the load. These past 10 years has been directly related to getting myself back on an even keel.

I am hoping the Kiwibiker community, can see past its own foibles, for God knows I have endeavoured to shed my own foibles for far too many years.

It must be me, the fact that I can upset so many in this ‘digital community’ without even realizing it until after the event/incident. Or then it maybe the way some people perceive my intentions.

I do not use Bruce Hannaford’s name in vein and his enduring legacy that is TCWNR, my intentions are well meaningful, and if people cannot see that and more importantly cannot accept me for who I am, then so be it. Life goes on.

Participating in the Kiwibiker community is a very very important part of my continued health and well-being. Ask yourself how someone is retired at a relative young age, and who rides their first 1000km in Stokes Valley before riding outside the valley - there is a connection there – for those that may want to get to know me. Now ask yourself why I may feel more comfortable riding in a smaller group.

I will ride on Wednesday nights at 6.30pm if not earlier, leaving the duckpond.

    Heads Up and Enjoy

BBNo1, we know you have the best of intentions -

But you have to remember that organising KBers is like herding cats...

Dont stress....Just put the jellymeat out and they will come if they want....or not!

As a newbie I dont really care as long as the ride a safe and at a speed I can keep up with and learn, would be good to start earlier though around 6pm as being on L's time is always going to be an issue.
