GROVEL - Looking for used PC bits...

    Here's my want list.

VGA/graphics card. Old is fine, slow is fine. I need it to see what's going on in the machine I'm building which will then run as either lights out, or principally accessed through VNC.

    SCSI RAID Controller.

SCSI HDDs. Small HDDs are fine (5GB...) prefer speed over size, with ideal of 3 x 8GB disks... to match the SCSI card obviously.

You guys/girls got any bits kicking around?
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

Cheers all - I'll let the list build for 24 hours then get back to you all (if i can get stuff in Auckland it minimises hassles with frieght and faffing around...)

A SCSI card and a graphics card would be awesome though...

There's a fair chance I have a few old 9G SCSI disks in the shed. Won't have been spun up for some time and will need testing, but I can probably have a look over the weekend. Must ask: what on earth do you want with little old disks like that?

Oh, and probably got a basic VGA card too. Unsure of a SCSI card, can look. Got a SCSI CD-ROM somewhere...

I used to stockpile but have been throwing a lot of that stuff out recently.

So the questions must be asked = Why!?

If you need a PC, why build from scrap parts when you can pickup retired Piii's and P4's for nothing?

Throwing together a cheap test platform for bulk data processing backtesting etc. I have the case, motherboard CPU RAM just need disk and a video card to initially set it up

With those tiny disks the data can't be that bulky

I'd agree with DM....you could probably get an old P3 for under $100.
and the performance of SATA disks is pretty comparable to the old SCSI stuff.

Ring me Nigel. I've got heaps of that stuff. I Can definitely help out with all your requirements (except the raid card which is sounds like Ola has sorted).
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
