A ZXR250 cargo hauler?

I'm contemplating a longer road trip in the near future and was wondering about how to carry a decent amount of stuff on a ZXR250...

I don't want to use a backpack for obvious reasons seeing as I'll probably be doing 500+ km per day.

So I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations regarding perhaps a tank bag and something going on/around the pillion seat. These two pictures (1 and 2) give an idea about what space there is to play around with.
I would of course prefer something that I'd be able to use on the bike I'll be getting after I've gotten my full license. (Sometime in the future)

I use a ventura rack system on the GPX with two rjays bags attached to it. One sits on the pillion seat and the other on the rack. I also use a soft pannier that goes over the pillion seat and under the rjays bag. Works well (especially in a cross wind ). I was doing a 600km round trip from the Coromandel to Hamilton. Small tank bag as well (great man bag when shopping, all the ladies love it)

Oxford Panniers (ex Jim2) fit on a zxr250 pillion seat ok, I have an oxford first timer tank bag which will work ok also

hey mate i reckon best option would be ventura rack with an rjays explorer bag. i use one myself on my zxr everyday and can carry a lot of stuff. the bag itself is pretty good and can expand/shrink depending on how much space you need. also comes with a 100% waterproof cover which comes in handy especially in auckland.from memory its 92 litres of spce when expanded plus some side pockets etc. the rack is very stable and means you dont have to mess with straps etc and can take the top part off if you dont need it.

While I did have a rack and bag for my ZXR, I've never bothered getting one for the KR, I just bungy or net a backpack to the pillion seat. I can fit a large backpack to the KR, and I imagine you could probably fit a small tramping type pack to a ZXR. I find it better since it cuts down on wind resistance (being quite low and directly behind you), and tends to stay drier too.

Hmmm, guess I'll have to do some shopping around. Not hot on the idea of fitting any kind of rack to the zxr though! I was thinking a tank bag (I think you can get some that stick on with magnets) and a bag for the pillion seat that I can strap down pretty well.
I'm thinking that I'd probably like to have around 60 liters worth if I'm off for a couple of weeks.

A smallish role bag could be the go. Pack the heavier stuff evenly either side so it drapes over the seat. Use rachet tie-downs to secure it and chect it every time you stop.

Seriously though, I'd want to take a pair of regular shoes, shorts, trousers, gore-tex jacket and various bits and pieces like puncture repair kit, can of chain lube, plexus...
