I'd agree with DM....you could probably get an old P3 for under $100.
and the performance of SATA disks is pretty comparable to the old SCSI stuff.

No no no - the processing is bulky - quite right... the data isn't. 73GB/year estimate but the number of processing sweeps across it will be on the high side (2^howevermanytestsIcando)

Hence my procurement of the Motherboard, CPU and RAM... I have the go fast bits - I just need bulk storage now and some way to see it being set up.
