    USD Maintenence

Now firstly I want to say sorry if this has been covered already. If not yay.

I have a 2004 Hyosung GT 250. Its USD forks sometimes make very brief grinding ummm feelings/shudders under heavy breaking. My mate said he heard it pulling into his driveway.

Is there any special or different type of maitenence required for USD forks??? or shuld I take it into the shop and get them to do it??? Any advice would be appreciated

I think you need to get some one who is a lot more mechanical than you to check your bike out mate

It could be coming from the brake Pads, or the brake disc, or the stearing head bearings, or the forks- Lots of things this could be

I don't really know, I can't imagine that they need special attention. As I ride a sportsbike, I've always thought of USD forks as the "normal" ones

you may be doing more damage to it by riding it.
when were the pads last changed? is the disc scored or damaged?

Yea it is, I understand what you are saying but! Mechanical failure can hurt you rather badly, so please get it checked

There are a few guys in the racing section, ( From Auckland) who I am sure you could PM, and do a deal with, to have your bike checked for safety at least!

I thought USD forks were too awesome to need maintenance?

Not wishing to generalise based on a few personal anecdotes, but the Hyo USD forks seem to blow their seals rather quickly. One which was already weeping with less than 6,000kms on it. I think many riders of these bikes don't really know about fork seals as well, so don't know what's going on and just ignore it. Have the forks got any oil left in 'em?
