Depends where on the track you want to be. The only ones we (marshalls) let past our point trackside are those normally being escorted, or at least announced via radio. Simple safety issue. We can't have people endangering the bikes, or them endangering you, or people being in our way if we need to do something.
Anyone else stays behind us (depends where on the track you are talking about too, as the points vary in proximity to track, how close spectators can get etc).
In-field, pass. Generally people can walk around the track in relative freedom I think. You may be stopped from going on the horse area.
