    1989 FJ1200 Engine problem

Sorry this is posted twice under general as well....didnt see the heading until I posted.

Any moderator can you remove from general Sorry !!!

    Man down

My babys gone down Boo hoo(manly Whimper)

Ridin home on my 1989 fj1200 when it started to make rattling noise in the engine and a lose power, nearly home so nursed it back....when I listened to it seems to be coming from the top of the engine around one of the valves.

next day I took off the the valve cover and checked for damage but nothing apparent, Checked valve clearance seem ok.

pulled the plugs and noticed the plug around the noisy valve is sooted and carboned while other three clean and nomal

If anyone could offer advice that would be really appreciated.

Dont have the gear fro a compression test would that be the next step......

Can you do a compression test - maybe a broken piston or ring

sometimes the noise from the bottom end can travel up to the top end could be something there.
