Damn what a great feeling

Race reports have been a bit slow so heres my take on the day.

Its been over 5 years since I decided to stop being a spectator and try and get back involved with racing. Frosty and Doogle taught me everything I know and I had been with them for the last 4 years but to join a new team with bikes i am unfamiliar with.....

So I get a PM asking me to Pit crew. You betcha I said. Then it sunk in....I am no mechanic. Heck I am a bogan accountant!

Got up at 4am mostly because i couldnt sleep and headed on down. I was particularly nervous because if i get anything wrong then it could go badly wrong for the rider on the track and we all know Paeora is an unforgiving place so the pressure is on.

Wow this guy trusts me enough to have me help him out on the day. All was good until he asks me to change the foot peg position on the brake pedal. OK Unfamiliar bike, 10 bolts to undo and reassemble. I suggest he check it beacause when I do anything to do with brakes not being a bike mechanic I like to get the rider to check what I have done.

If it came undone, blame it on him draaging it on the ground mid corner, his ego will swell up so much, he'll not refute it I bet.

Good to hear your back on the scene Cherie.Dont be so hard on yourself everybody makes mistakes,Its all part of the learning curve,The most important thing to remember is if your not sure ask someone else.I remember years ago when working with Brian Bernard and one of the new guys mentioned to him how worried he was about leaving something loose on the bike.Brians reply was,If you left it loose the chances are I might of as well.Hope to see you out there during the Actrix series.Cheers Billy

Thank you so much for your help on Sunday Cherie. You were awesome. We would LOVE to have you back as our pit crew. Don't worry about the foot peg. It was jonnos conscious decision, without the accountants rationale for numbers, he couldn't properly assess the risk factor... we need you!!

It was great to race two bikes, and not have any major stresses at all, from the basics of tyre warmers etc to the resetting of very difficult to work foot pegs, Cherie is COOL!!
