Cold canvassing for a fulltime job

I'm entering the fulltime work force this year!

anyone know of any dog groomers, cattery/kennel facilities preferrably around the shore or around the mt eden and pt chev areas that I can send my cv into??

Alternatively, does anyone work in an animal related business that is around auckland (reasonably close to CBD or the north shore) that could possibly spare a position?

yeah, they are looking for people at the moment.

I have them on my list, though it's really difficult for me to get out there as it's all the way in manukau (the auckland SPCA that is, not the RNZSPCA which is in new lynn i think)

I'd be really interested in working there, but as i said... distance (i float between the shore and mt eden during the week [living wise that is])

Star Dogs in Mount Albert...you'll have to look the address up but they are not far from Unitec.

SPCA is out by the airport...10 mins from Mt Eden.

Don't send your CV, get out there and go and visit, seeing someone knocking on the door is far better than a letter in the post.

If transports a problem, arrange a vehicle for a day and go door knocking, accept any job at all and get into the industry. Don't piss about with it, get out there tomorrow and knock on doors.

as for sending my CV , what I ment was taking it to them.. sorry, i'm in "not-so-good-england" mode... lol

as for any job at all, i'm right there with you.. and I've got a huge list of places and a pile of cv's that i'm going to hand out on monday most likely (need to tweak some things first)

and thanks for the advice and reminder of where the spca is from mt eden lol.. i'm so lost with directions most of the time..

Just open up the Yellow Pages and take it from there.

Takes a lot more effort to get out there & knock on doors.. than it does to post an envelope! & it shows employers you have initiative!! & you are willing to do what it takes to get yourself out there in the workforce!

Along the way I've heard that many cv's that get posted to an employer.. end up in the rubbish bin!!!! :slap:

Takes a lot more effort to get out there & knock on doors.. than it does to post an envelope! & it shows employers you have initiative!! & you are willing to do what it takes to get yourself out there in the workforce!

I highly recommend that you do one anyway as it's a great introduction to yourself(as you know) but there's also a high chance that when you bowl on into a business that they may be more than a little busy therefore not be able to give you/your CV the required attention you're desiring at that particular moment.

this is true... I've kind of got a little section in my cv that covers the "all about me" thing though... I'll try write one though see how I go... I do need a few tips on writing one though as I tend to go over the top and put in useless things.

and I do have contacts in the vet world to back up my cv if they have questions as a "just in case"
