The Ventura bags are sort of waterproof, but the seams suck water in. You can get storm covers for them, but they are lightweight nylon, and tend to blow around. desperately trying to turn into a wind sock. Your solution is the best one, even for shortish trips (less than an hour) in moderate rain.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Apart from water getting in you phone, when carried in Jacket pockets they can also break ribs Happened to a friend of mine a few years ago, although admittedly the technology was a bit older then and phones were a bit smaller, and you couldn't txt between vodafone and telecom. His phone was one of those first cool nokia's with games on them! Snake was awesome...

Unfortunately when I opened it, some dust got between the transparent plastic for the screen and the LCD, so there is the tiniest amount of dust. Other than that I'm happy cos I don't have to shell out for a new phone!

Don't be a wuss, Just wash it with a good disinfectant an then dry it again

A year or so ago I dropped my Blackberry in a creek we were pumping out, it was contaminated from a sewer overflow and I didn't have time to piss around with a slow dry.
So I pulled it apart and chucked it onto the ute motor in bits to dry, then left motor running for an hour or so to keep it hot.

Of course after driving off I had to stop at the first intersection and retrieved the phone and cover which by chance were caught in the exhaust and inlet manifolds ........ but not the battery that was long gone

Went back to office and pinched a battery from another phone to get it going

So far I have rescued 2 phones and a car remote by drying rapidly either on the dash or on the motor. Depending on what they drown in a slow dry can cause corrosion in the contacts.
Lead, follow or get the f*%! outa the way.
