Dunno about riding on ice or in snow tho, but I have been putting off for decades now so I'm gunna HTFU and just do it!

Yay your birthday toowhich means we will have to seek each other out, stand about 10 feet away run at each other, and meet each other in mid air.....man I love rallies, but to have a birthday on one, is like nothing else
sounds like a few of you great dudes are coming down for it...............will be great to bang a few beers with you dudes.

Went past a fab looking bonnie today so swung the bike back the other way to do a meet and greet as you do, (I was on my vepsa having done a shop[!!) but still thought Id stop for a yarn, there was two dudes and one dudess from Whangura....(or however you spell it.....brit chick you understand!!))) Anyway, they were nice folk.

Fuck I am hanging out for the March Hare, Off the Rails and Beaumont. I reckon the temperatures for the Chilley Gorilla are going to be a record high this year I am taking the sun tan lotion and sunny's....I am bumming a pillion ride there with my best friend whose a fantastic bloke.....what could be sweeter in life......, as I shall be too intoxicated to ride.....and comes with the territory of enjoyine one's birthday eh...

How can a weather forecast go up to 4 months in advance?

It can be done. Weather follows a basic pattern based on mainly on passage of the moon around the earth and in part how the moon and earth interact with the sun. The changes to that are affect by local ocean tempertures, especially if you live in a coastal region, and also the shape of the surrounding land mass.

Queenstown gets so much great weather because a lot of the rain comes from the west, blows up the side of the alps, gets to the top and keeps on going up and gets carried over Queenstown, central in general, North Otago/Waitaki Hydro and McKenzie country.

Who cares how cold it is, it could get cold even on a summer rally. I do agree that the summer rallies are brilliant fun, but to rug up and get talking bollocks round the site, is a right crack.

Would advise those who aren't soft cocks, to grab a thermal roll out mat, and them stick your blow up beds on top, saves the blow ups getting all
frozen.

Don't forget thick woolie socks.... I woke up with such cold toes last year once that frost settled in...

I have heard it said that at one Brass Monkey it was that warm that folks were wearing t-shirts!! Lets hope for an unseasonably warm climate at this years one eh.

Last year was quite pleasent once the rain stopped. I ended up walking round the site with just my trackies (spare that I managed to keep dry..) and a singlet. I must have had some weirdo following me around cos I saw a lot of funny looks from all the others still in all their wet riding gear.

Suprisingly in all that time there I only heard one person yell out "SHOW US YOUR TITS!"

All the others must have been gay...

Coi 4 now, up dancing till 4am this morning, then up at 6, so am so tired, feel like I have been shot in the eyes at the moment, so going to be asleep by 8pm.....Woooooooooooooosey eh.

And a reminder that friday nights a huge birthday pissup in Dunedin.

I have enjoyed this one for a few years now, steak sammies bon fire, music and yappin.

The food was great last time I was there (2004) especially compared to the muck available from the commercial operators at the VCR this year. The Brass is good cos you know the caterers are doing it as a fund raiser for the local schools etc, and down south we know how to put on a good feed !!!

The Brass? - bah humbug, the least appealing of all the rallies.

Gimme a hot day at the Vincent etc any time.

This is the best of all rallies in my humble opinion.
It might be the bond of collective misery, I don't know.

I missed out last year (the first one I've missed in about 14 years) which really pissed me off but I'm definitely going to be there again this year.

And it's a birthday party too so that makes it even funner.

Got my postal entryform yesterday, The BRM committee have organised a booking number with interislander for cheaper fares, that will help with the petrol prices will have to pay in Haast and Queenstown.

- all the old guys will tell you how cold it used to be. Ive seen pics of bikes being ridden on the ice, but I've never seen ice on the lake thats been thick enough to do more than (carefully) stand on......

yes, but the first few rallies were held on the first weekend in July. Then they changed it to the first weekend in June. That is much warmer.
