Nah. I was taking the piss, much as I'd like to ride down there regularly enough to be on the Welly list the reality is that while we made it down three times last year, once will probably be it this year and that was Easter.

Hi guys, a friend and I are building an FXR 150 bucket at the moment. Can we reserve race number 99 for our bucket? Thanks.

We're trying our best not to wreck the engine, and the bike for that matter, before we even start racing. Trying to get the generator cover off at the moment. Bloody thing seems to be glued on - won't budge. Probably just need a bigger hammer!

Sure no worries. It will be stuck because of the crusty old gasket and also it's magnetized so don't bash at it, pry it off.

Thanks for that and the advice. You can put my name 'Steve Coleman' next to the number if you wish. Sorry, I'm not sure how to pry it off. There's one tab that sticks out in the top right of the cover but there's not much else to lever against.

Thanks. Would I just tap around the cover until the seal breaks and the cover comes away?

Has anyone got any dates for up and coming meetings at Kaitoke or Taurumanui?

Hels has been running 99 rather than 199 since 2 digit numbers became preferable.

Not wanting to be a difficult bugger but in Auckland we don't allow people to reserve numbers, if it isn't being used you get it when you race, otherwise there seems to be a tendency for bikes to sit in sheds for years at a time tying up numbers and there never seem to be enough to go round these days in any case.

You're dead right Henk, I only made this list as a guideline more than anything. It's just so that the new people can choose a number without having to possibly change it. We have had a lot of new people racing in Wellington which probably has a lot to do with Fish sorting out the King of Kaitoke. No numbers are officially reserved but I'm sure noone is going to intentionally steal a regular's number

    Fair enough.
When I've put the Auckland number list together it's been because I was building a bike and needed a number.
I've had a couple of people come back at me and say "I have bike number xx in my shed" or "sign me up for number n"
I've taken the approach that if you want to hang on to a number best you drag the bike to the track at least once every two years.
We're also trying to run no three digit numbers and no repeats A B F5. Probably not as important now we have the transponders set up but you never know when we may have to revert to manual lap timing.
