I hear you. But I think a lot of improvement could be gained by doing simple stretches regularly. Lemme know more if you want me to give you some good stretching techniques.

Actually, yes, that probably wouldn't hurt. What little knowledge I have about static stretching techniques is pretty stale, and as far as dynamic work to loosen up the muscles goes (if there even is such a thing) I simply wouldn't know where to begin.

Stretching on a regular basis is the only to gain back what was lost. As an ex ballerina, I can show him a few, but regularity and strict discipline is as always a must...and I don't know that our lovely JR is that motivated.

Well, getting to the point where splits come easily and you can lick the sole of your feet will always take a lot of regularity and discipline.

A couple of simple stretches done with the right technique can work wonders in no time at all if we're just concerned about tight muscles that needs waking up.

I've sent a PM to jrandom with a simple stretch for starting out. If he's hungry for more I'll try and do a write up on the stretching routines we did during warm-up for taekwon-do back in the days. If so I'll be happy to cc it to you as well V.
