Give us a separate section for high resolution photos then. Mudguards get their own pidgeon hole.
I bet Lots of people would enjoy it and if you haven't got broadband don't go in there.

OAB - Mr Trousers is amenable to the idea of a high res section.
I suggest it would be for embedded images mainly - thus saving overhead on KB space.
Merv - they are images that live on a separate place on the interweeb and are called up by KB pages - they are not actually on the KB server.
and limit it to 1600 pixels by convention.
We can also do layouts

If th ephotos are to big to embedd into a KB thread, then why not just;
1. upload as an attachment to KB or...
2. simply provide a clickable link to the host with your photo album... then kb users can see all your photos... its not that difficult... and no different than adding the embedded link. http://www.quantumillusions.com/phot...14116569_l.jpg
Embedding images just simply sux... and yes I am on broadband... and I find it annoying.
At the moment there isn't a way for Big Dave, Nordie etc to display their best stuff because they would have to surrender full control over the images to kb. No professional photographer will do that.
Discussions on a solution are underway (NOTE that it will be a solution for bike related material and not general, non-bike stuff).
As per usual, I favour any option that reduces the work load of the Moderators (the less Moderators have to do the less rules are having to be enforced).
Zen wisdom: No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. - obviously had KB in mind when he came up with that gem
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity
But as I said, give me a link to the photo and I still get to choose whether I wish to view it or not, one at a time, not embedding them all in a thread where I have to download 30 largish images in one hit... very annoying and should be outlawed on the net...
as soon as you up load an image to the interweb you loose control over the way it looks, the way people have there system setup, what browser they are using even the operating system, screen resolution, how old the monitor is... crt or lcd, and the list goes on... not to mention things like jpg compression, application they are using to veiw the image...
I am suggesting a place called 'large images' - it's for people with good computers and broadband.
This is my art - if you don't want to download them - don't go there. Simple.
However hundreds - literally hundreds - have told me they enjoy the way I do it on ADV and that is by embedding lots of 1024 x 768 jpegs.
Even if it was just a thread that the pictures were not moderator unlinked.
'Big Daves' 1024px picture thread.
'Nordies Big Picture thread.'
if it's clearly labeled with what is inside nobody can complain surely.
Not enough support to make this happen it seems.
No sweat.
Thank you Mr Pants anyways.
