    Paeroa race report Shaun Pattenden

I had been looking forward to this event for some time as I have only ever watched from the sidelines thinking it would be much more fun being out there!

    Goals:
    1 Finish every race
    2 Keep it comfortable
    3 Have fun!

Initially disappointed to find out grid positions were determined from Wanganui which I did not participate, so wound up at the back, which made hard work getting by people while the rest got away a bit
It took me a little while to get a handle on the different aspects of the street circuit and got reasonably comfortable by the 2nd race.

    Formula Paeroa

    Practise
Some got on the pace quite quickly so to speak, but I was taking time to have a good look around and figure what to do, a bit daunting at first but soon settled in.

    Race 1
Big wheel stand off the start - whoops then into a fairly busy T1, started making head way but a yellow flag was soon out and was behind a slower bike which I didnt dare pass cause we had been threatened we would lose our left testicle if we got caught passing under yellow. The race was then soon red flagged and restarted with a warm up lap and 6 laps to go. Made a smoother start and made up some places finishing 12th.

    Race 2
Made it to King of the Streets race which was great to have an extra race, had a good battle with Ricky Mckay on his R6 swapping places in and out of corners a few times, and got passed at the end by the two front runners which was good to see their corner speed and lines, as they were going really quick - good stuff! Finished somewhere in the middle 8th for FP.

    Race 3
Got a better start this time and made way from the back of the grid to 12th at the end and got into some clear track with no one in sight in front, which was better than Race 1 cause there were more survivors, just got pipped by Nick 'O at the end, where'd you come from? lol
Best time of day for me in this one at 49.094

Goals achieved had a great day, good to pit with Carey and Glen W and have Rhys Holmes and Jarrod around helpin out although im sure they would have rather been out there! And of course a special mention to my Wife Felicity for helpin out. What an event!!

Mate, that was an awesome battle in the King of the Street Race. You'll have to make sure you're back here for next years race.

Good day aye Sean, I though Jarod was dribbling a little to much over the Pirelli girls though......I wonder how many times a 1000m roll of shrink wrap will go round n round n round a Gixxer thou.............

Well now, it depends on whos Gixxer 1K you wanna wrap. Seeing as I am the official supplier of shrink wrap to all street racing fixtures, I could probably do a little measure up for ya. No charge.

Of course, if it's mine you wanna wrap, I'd hazard a guess you'd get about three more layers on an SV
