And as for funding future earners - pfft dont start me on that.
the thing is not the lack of money it is not knowing about it. If i had knowen that the payments were not starting till then then i would have PLANED for it.

Oh and it IS NOT FREE MONEY. We have to pay it back.

I think the worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades.or a game of fake heart attack.

Mate you aren't the only one pissed off with them. I don't qualify for an allowance or accomodation supplement because my parents earn too much. Apparently it doesnt matter that they don't help with my rent, or speak to me for that matter (which I have witnesses to verify) and that I'm stuck with dental bills worth more than I care to disclose. I'm claiming everything I can under the living costs (and racking up some lovely debt), but $150 a week is only just enough to pay food and rent. I'm pissed at the fact that I have to cram in around 20 hours of work into an already busy week to make ends meet when theres a shitload of people who are in considerably more comfortable circumstances and get "free money." Chin up though, soon enough you'll have a qualification and we can all bugger off somewhere else to earn the money we dream of making while dining on 2-minute noodles and beans on toast.

    /rant over.

Maybe you have to pay it back, but I am over 25, and I get an allowance not a loan.

Silly monkey. Don't they teach the yoof of today anything about emigrating to avoid paying loans?

Try being a student in Scotland.....a couple of months studying before finally getting the loan isn't unusual. HTFU

Umm, the money we've saved from our summer jobs perhaps?

And they pay one week behind just like any other job, so what's the big deal?

EH...no. I was 2 years into my 4 wasted years when they first introduced student loans (motherfuckers). They couldn't process them fast enough so there were lots of people waiting for months to get the peso's.

As for too many students now...yes. Courses should be linked to jobs. There's always a shortage of good science and engineering graduates and yet the courses are always under subscribed. Too many job dodgers going for easy $hit like psychology or media studies.

Working and studying...oh my heart bleeds. I knew guys and gals who literally worked the equivalent of full time hours whilst studying and yet they'd rather starve than go cap in hand to mummy and daddy. As the kiwi's keep telling me....they need to HTFU.
