    Carry on.
So many versions. Almost all of which saw Gilmour doing the chorus and several of the rest of whoever made up PF, (including female vocalists) at the time doing the rest.

    Prince's famous guitar solo

That Comfortably numb guitar solo reminded me of a performance by Prince for the Rock n Roll hall of fame tribute to George Harrison.

It had around 118 million views so they remastered it about a year ago. I just love the way he performs on stage and his swagger as he leaves the stage afterwards. It also features Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Steve Winwood.

Didn't see this until after Prince had died, it changed my view of him completely. What a show stopping ending!

The consensus was pretty much that even if he couldnt write a song he would earn a very good living as a gun for hire/session player. (i.e. like Mr Page or Mr Beck). I dont like a lot of the material but you have to acknowledge the man could play.

In recent years there have been various clips of interviews and reminiscences of session musicians, notably The Wrecking Crew. Their thing was to arrive on time, sober, and ready to work. Far from universal in the 60s nd 70s.

Glen Campbell, a member, was unusual among session musicians in that he couldn't read music. The bass player could also play guitar. She'd play what the sheet music said and Campbell would come up with the guitar parts for the song from what she'd played.

Edit. A warning - that clip is long but she is so important and so woven into music since the late fifties it is well worth the effort.

Bonnie Raitt has been in the music business since 1970, has recorded 21 albums and has 16 Grammy awards. When she won the Grammy for Best Song the other night she was described by one writer as an "unknown blues singer." Ah well...

The song broaches an unusual topic and is moving in an understated way. I can see why the judges liked it. Herewith the song with lyrics. Not bad for 73?
