Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
album Texas Flood is 40 years
old today
Queen's self titled album is 50 years old today.
On the news this morning Robbie Robertson, formerly of The Band, has died. I had "The Last Walz" DVD here but can't find it. There are a couple of his albums in my phone though so he'll get a hearing today.
Rodriguez the subject of the movie "Searching for Sugarman" also died overnight our time. A strange story, as a singer he was huge in South Africa, had success in Australia and NZ but was virtually unknown in the US. The record company had no idea where he was and weren't looking. Two South Africans went looking and found him working as a labourer on building sites. Got his album on a phone too so that's music for the day sorted.

I watched Searching for Sugarman on a long flight somehwere, it brought a tear to my eye.
What a humble guy. he had a couple of college degress but preferred working in the demolition industry in Detroit.
Even his work mates didnt know he was famous.
My latest earworm....a flashback and an acquired taste

His music might not be to everyone's taste, but there is no denying that his vocal talent is phenomenal. (don't be put off by the slow intro, it builds up)
The latest issue of Queen's hits apparently has warnings with some tracks for those of tender sensibilities. Verging on sagrilege though, the track "Fat Bottomed Girls" has been omitted as unsuitable.

Read that on fluff news earlier and mentioned it in stupid world.
Bohemian Rhapsody is ok, though. "Put a gun against his head.."
Makes me wonder if any of the decision makers have ever actually heard Queens music or if they just went off the track titles.
I bet they knit their own mung beans.
Manopausal.
Saw a report today that Bernie Marsden has died. I have one of his albums, today it'll get a spin. Bernie's Les Paul guitar was famous, "The Beast." Joe Bonamassa had borrowed it while on tour in Europe. I hope it gets a good home.
