It's a bit like skydiving, if at first you don't succeed then it's probably not for you...

We all make choices and of course riding a bike does expose you, generally, to a greater risk. However, as with any activity, smart people do what they can to minimize risk. (ATGATT, etc.), As nice a person as this guy may have been, and of course I never knew him personally, his actions greatly increased the risk of death or injury both to himself and other road users.

It was ironic that the very thing that would probably have saved his life, was the very thing he actively avoided using.

It is a relief to know the innocent victim of his actions was spared. Other's aren't so fortunate. Imagine the uproar if he had lived while killing the other driver.

Calling strangers losers on an Internet forum is easy. It makes life seem a bit less complicated than it really is.
You're making a valid point BJ!

But, I think there might be a subtle difference though... Lemme check. Did your brother-in-law do P before getting in the NSX? Did he force his friend into the car? I didn't think so.

We all know the risk when we crank that handle or put our foot to the floor. I'm sure most have had a "uh-oh" moment where we realise that we could have been unlucky there and gotten maimed or killed. Some people are unlucky the first time.

If anything he was a lucky bastard for having a NSX - too bad he didn't take better care of it - and himself!

It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Absolutely - especially when it comes to safety gear. IMHO leathers, boots, helmet and gloves are to motorsicklists what a safety/seat belt is to car drivers. There are plenty of posts on this site bagging bikers seen wearing jandals and t-shirts .....

The motorcycling equivalent would be someone painting on a helmet to avoid the authorities pinging him for not wearing one,
Or how about riding a motorcycle with a cap on backwards?

then smoking a bit of P, a bit of dope and heading out onto the road.
"and an autopsy blood test showed he had taken methamphetamine and cannabis"

I bet half of you lot would fail a blood test too.

People not wearing seatbelts and no WOF and traces of drugs in their system is a very common thing these days.

Yes - riding with a cap on backwards is different from painting on a helmet.

It may be but I bet not many of said people would go to the trouble of making a fake seatbelt?

There are reasons I called him a loser, amongst others these are .

create the illusion to a passing motorist or police officer that a seatbelt was being worn when it was not.

Mr Segedin's car had an expired warrant,

    was full of rust,

    he had taken methamphetamine

    and cannabis.

"He died when quite possibly he need not have."

His fatal injuries were caused when he was thrown forward on to the steering wheel in a low-impact crash.
Face it, he was a loser.

Actually, there's one more thing I'd like to add.

There is a difference between making stupid mistakes and being stupid.

We all make stupid mistakes, but stupid people keep making the same ones over and over.

This guy was stupid, a loser, a fuckwit. Sorry if its abrupt, but he is undefendanble.
Some things are worth dying for, living is one of them.
