Xile back on the track (Taupo training day 27/02/08)

Just the report on my second go at a track...

Left Leigh on the Tuesday, do some shit in Auckland and head up to Tirau by the boring as hell SH1...Seriously nothing to tell here: was straight, cars, bugs; Sunny though! Just cruising 120 all the way...

Went quite much faster than i thought and arrived in Tirau 2 hours before meeting time with Kiwifruit...*ahem* There was no café open except one so had a nap, a tea and fortunately Allan could go earlier from work lol!
Oh forgot to mention that I was carrying a big backpack...did not know what to take with me...lol
So Allan show some awesome roads from Tirau to Taupo (don't remember the names though) and carry my bag which was quite a relief...

Pop up at the motel where Noel and Greg were lazily waiting for me Nice night and dinner (10pm is quite a hard hour to find places still serving food in Taupo)...and no i was not drunk...just very tipsy (no food and 5h ride did not help too)

And then, meeting at the track (reduced to the old one, bit smaller) at 9.
Perfect day, almost no wind, dry and sunny day, 12 bikes (and new leathers for me)! Felt like my bike was the crappiest of all the ones there, or at least less nice looking...but one day, i'll finish studying and i'll be rich!

We started by going on the track and stop at each corner to see where we needed to go, how to take each corner the best way. Then another meeting for theory on lines and then first laps going quicker and quicker from say 60 to 100 at the end. Awesome to take your time to warm you up, and your tyres, and really try to do your best lines!

No real defined sessions, so you stop or start when you want which is really cool! Start for very appreciated advises: “it’s very pretty to watch you on corners, it’s all smooth, and position is not too bad…but you need to straightened the bike earlier at the end of the corner” by Chris for instance... Now time to apply it...*ahem*. Did not work on that huge corner at the end of the track (the needle one) at first but slowly get onto it. Got to scratch the foot pegs each side, but it’s so scary!! Bike start to shake etc...brrr hate it…But thanks to the other Chris (Chrislost) finally stopped having my arse and my head at wrong place and line my back onto the corners!! Felt so good and no scratching anymore and so much faster

The objective of this training day was for me to have my knee down at least once (I did not buy fucking leather with knee-sliders to look nice!). By midday though, was faster and really lower but my knee was still up the asphalt
Loved the lunch stunt show, boys you rock!!! Was really cool!! (I put my pics on here bit later).

After lunch and a bit of rest, determination was at its high and opening more your leg helps if you want your knee-down! And yay I did it!!!!
So awesome sensation! I love it!
Last sessions on the arvo were kinda racy, and I really felt onto it and relax, and got my knee-down almost each corner so lot of witnesses hehe!

Time to come back to Auckland/Leigh…went back by really nice roads: beautiful landscapes, nice pace for Greg and I (as Noel was just cruising really faster than us lol), no cars and end of the day’s light! Wonderful!

Sum: reach my objective, had an awesome ride back, weather was perfect, people were perfect, only one slide, improved so much during the day!

Now I really have to thanks Chris and Paul for organising and advises, Chris for his precious advises, all the other riders of the day for being awesome on the track and respect the rules and don't scare me when they passed me :P, Allan for the nice road, and Greg, and Noel.
Noel, mate you're a legend...can't thank you enough for all you do and did for me (including carrying my huge back to Auckland lol), can't smile enough to thank you!

And sorry for the English but still tired from the two days (yay I’m young but…)

Woohoo...Knee down? You go lil' sis.

I'll give you a big hug next time I see you.

Track days are addictive aren't they? And the Taupo region has got some awesome scenery.

    Good write up chicky.

    Awesome stuff Xile!

Yup, kiwifruit's the man when it comes to knowing the best roads in the central North Island, isn't he?

Sounds like you're definitely getting the hang of this 'riding a motorcycle' business. You should have stayed on in Taupo and joined us at MotoTT tomorrow!

kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.

Well done Cecile! Looking good on the bike, you'd get ur knee down easier with USD's (upside down forks) by the way...
And yes, don't they make a lovely looking 'couple'

Hey Xile, had a chat to Chris yesterday and he said he was most impressed by how quick you were!

Cool pics of Lee & Kev stunting too... Apparently SV's don't like the stunting abuse, Lee's frame snapped clean in half a couple of days later
It was fixed up within a week!
