    Chipping

Hi - bit new to all this shit... have a Roadiner went for the Star yamaha drag pipes... reading some feed back I gather the fuel injection will now be sub optimum. Does any one chip the computers in nz ? ie dyna tune and chip?
or do you have to buy after market computer?
also any suggestions on improving the air intake ..hypercharger? all a bit different from my last bike sr 500 but hey that was 25 years ago.

can you ever have too much horsepower?

    cheers

Probably the best way is fit a power commander and get it dynotuned to suit. Havent heard of chips for the roadliner
    cheers

    roadliner breathing

    thanks ZZZ.
Fitted the drag pipes last night . they fought back - I won however the pipes took the first 2 rounds. talk about loud! I could end up one the few old farts pink stickered! any how ... seems the internet chatter was accurate and there is considerable backfire on deaceleration. so no sense in dyna tuning /power commander until i have modified the air intake and then get it all sorted.
Any suggestions ... what the hell are these hyperchargers? ... perhaps I am better off with just an after market filter kit?

    cheers

Power Commanders are getting cheaper with the exchange rate at the moment. Probably about $550, just guessing. Maybe $100 to fit depending on all sorts of stuff and then a couple of hours on the dyno. End result - close to perfect tuning. Call Henderson Motorcycles AK 8385899.

"not me officer, I'm just off to see my grandchildren. Must have been that young fella who went past me at warp factor 9" might work
Hyperchargers sound good (the name that is) and look good. Probably flow more air than the stock setup.
There are numerous fuel injection devices available, cobra 2000, tfi, fuelpak, which are advertised as efi controllers. They are adjustable enrichment devices. All you can do is richen the mixture. They will certainly sort out the popping and any obvious lean spots but they do tend to make everything rich. Results are "alright" at best. They are cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Yamaha make replacement ecu which have been "tuned" to suit modified motors but they can't be adjusted.
Contrary to popular opinion a free flow exhaust can make parts of the rev range rich as well as lean. So a fully tunable device like a PC is the way to go.
Best bet is get on the internet and find a good deal on power commanders. Probably find your hypercharger there as well. Dont get the new EX series. They have blocked out parts of the map so they can be street legal in the states.
    enjoy!!

    What he said.

Another benefit of the Pwr Commander is that it interfaces with dynojet dynos and simplifies and speeds up the tuning process, thereby saving money and time with a greater likelihood of getting it right.
