Chemical castration for sex offender

"South Korea says it will chemically castrate a convicted serial child sex offender in its first use of such a punishment.

The Justice Ministry said the 45-year-man will get an injection aimed at inhibiting sexually violent impulses tomorrow. A psychiatric test concluded he is a paedophile and needs medication.

South Korea legislated chemical castration in 2010 after a series of violent sexual assaults on children sparked public outrage.

The ministry says the man will be released from a prison in July but must get the injection every three months for three years.

The ministry says the man could get up to seven years in prison if he rejects the injection.

He was convicted four times of raping or sexually molesting girls under the ages of 13."

Pretty sure that chemical castration is iffy at best in efforts to stop this.

I've actually read studies on this - that sounds worse than it is (Pulse News Reader on the phone brings all sorts to my phone) - the risk is that because they are unable to use their bits they use other things or disfigure the victim's parts - which sounds a lot worse to me. It sounds great in theory but as I understand it, the truth of it is less than ideal.

They just want to boot him out of jail, because in jail, they have to protect him and of course, the taxpayers pay for his room and board, etc. Once he's allowed out on these so-called injections, let's see how long before he turns up dead on a side-street somewhere...
