    Yamaha YB-100 question

    Hi
I have a Yamaha YB-100 (1989). The indicators just stay on when they used rather than "flashing". Does any one have any idea of a fix to this issue? I have remove the indicator control (located in battery) inclosure and given it a few taps to loosen it up. The battery has been charged up (6V battery) but it does not seem to make a difference. I have tried the indicators with the bike running and still get the same result.
Does any one have any advice on a good shop to gets parts for Yamaha bike of this vintage? Ideally one located in Auckland

    Cheers

    HI,

Does the flasher look factory? what type?
    Eg
Bi-metal - the light alloy old school round can ones.
Capasitor - heavy square type like many Suzuki's use.

They need to be matched to the bulb wattage to get the right loading!
6v sounds like you won't get much choice.
Bike shops sell aftermarket ones for $15.
Does the relay have any load ratings on it?
What are the bulb wattages - have you changed them recently etc

    Cheers

Most flasher units are universal. and they can be hidden anywhere on the bike.(under the tank is usual) if kept in the circuit (as long as voltage is the same) Phone a bike wrecker

Generally, assuming the flasher unit itself is OK, flasher units that don't flash are caused by one of two reasons.. either the bikes voltage is low, or incorrect indicator bulbs are fitted. (Higher wattage bulbs needed.)

You can safely use an electro-mechanical 12v flasher unit on a 6 bike - about $10 at Repco.
