Wednesday Night Smaller Group Ride WNSGR

    Detailed at the Calendar :
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/ca...day=2008-2-20&

Between now and the end of Daylight Saving: An open invitation is extended to riders in the Wellington community intending to ride with The Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride, that I am prepared to depart progressively earlier each Wednesday in a group of five riders from the Duckpond at Avalon. Departure will be approximately quarter of an hour before the main TCWNR riding group.

Those that may want to leave earlier may meet me at the Duckpond on the Wednesday evening, or send a PM in advance.

It is not my intention to detract from TCWNR, but to provide an option, given the fact that the days are getting shorter, and that attendance at TCWNR can at times exceed 10,15, and 20 riders all leaving en masse at 6.30pm.

Destination point can be agreed by the smaller group on the evening and it is accepted that the main riding group may not necessarily decide to ride to the same destination.

In the event that no riders want to depart earlier on any particular week, I may join the main riding group and ride toward the rear of the group.

Group dynamics within the community, may not necessarily be to your personal liking, but if the potential exists to reduce risks, then hopefully the group will take appropriate action to improve and reduce the risks with compromise and open communication.

Interesting ride - thanks Guy. We had almost every weather condition - sun, wind, rain, drizzle... all good learning stuff for us newbies...
Note to self - dont follow Russell down Haywards as the backfire from his 650 single cyl almost blew me off my bike!!!!

19 March Wednesday Night Smaller Group Ride

From Avalon into the city and around the harbour and bays – a shortened route turning back toward the city through the Seatoun tunnel then onto the motorway and taken the first exit at Tinakori Road. Rode up through Wadestown then along and down the Ngaio Gorge rejoining the motorway and out to the Jetty Café at Petone.

Riders: Russell [from Hutt Valley], Russell [from Dannivirke], Mike and Guy.

I received a text from Mike asking if there was a ride on and that if so he didn’t want a long ride as he had just finished a 700km ride. Well I assumed the 700km ride was from last weekend, oh no it wasn’t. Apparently he rode up to Dannivirke on Tuesday, then he and Russell road to Taupo staying overnight and returning to Wellington on Wednesday. So when Mike and Russell arrived at the duckpond I asked ‘where did you ride on the weekend?’ to be told ‘we just got in from Taupo this afternoon.'

Russell having been born and bred in the Wairarapa, he remarked when we got to the Jetty Café that there was a wee bit more traffic than he was used to and the roads were a bit more winding.

Two more rides left before daylight saving changes back.

Meanwhile here is the link to the map and details:

And what an AWESOME ride it was too. Best weather I have seen. Left Taupo around 10,15am arriving back at Raumati about 4pm, so a quick hours rest and off again for the Wednesday evening ride..

26 March Wednesday Night Smaller Group Ride

Thank you Russell for your company over the hill to the Tin Hutt, and Sels1 for finding my cap I dropped at the duckpond - yeah yeah okay okay I know it was a Honda cap and you were going to drag it through the duckpond before you left on the ride to Featherston.

On a different note, I'd like to thank all those that joined in these last six Wednesday Night Smaller Group Rides and to thank all those that ride in the main group that I meet at the Duckpond and have a chat before we set off on our respective rides.

To those that expressed their genuine concerns about why I elected to ride earlier on a Wednesday evening a sincere thank you and for taking the time to listen. Anxiety can be a dreadful condition, and whereas people can look at life's challenges in many different ways, for some it is very difficult. Learning to ride and to have accomplished so much in 22 months I am pleased with my riding ability and honoured to have met some real good down to earth people - and that is all of you.

    My Best Regards.
Thank You and Until Next Spring:

Also thanks for those smaller rides Guy.. I prefer a smaller group and a chat at the end, although I never got to too many of them. Great company though
