I was diagnosed as clinically depressed 6 years ago. Since then i've battled with it every day of my life. Suicide attempts, weeks where I can't even get out of bed, you name it, i've been through it. Lost 2 great mates to suicide as well.

Anywho. To me, the Phoenix represents my struggle. Rising from the ashes, means that tomorrow can always be a better day, and no matter how deep and dark I feel, I will get better soon. Today is not the end of the world. The bird aspect of it also represents freedom of the soul. It is also looking forward, towards the future.

The star that it is carrying up with it represents 5 things that have got me through some tough times.

    Friends.
    Family.
    Love.
    Honour.
    Integrity.

The star is supposed to look deformed, as though it has been dragged through hell and back (just as I have been), and that effect will come with the shading.

Sappy, I know, but it means a lot to me, and I am utterly stoked with how it turned out.

    Good on ya mate...keep riding.

Sappy isn't a word I would use. Courageous is the word I would use. It takes strength to acknowledge where your'v been, where you are and where your heading. Awsome one mate.

Had the second session on Thursday last week.

Still pretty sore, with some spectacular bruising this time. Session lasted just over 2 hours.

One more session to go in July (he's so fully booked it's ridiculous) to get the background burst filled in (white at the center of the circle, blending into a bright blue) and the dark wind patterns put in on the top of my shoulder, and on the back of my arm.

What type of crap arse motorcycle site is this????

Not one 'Harley Fucking Davidson' tattoo yet

But I jest - nice piece, and I applaud you on getting a large one in a visible area for number one.

I played it safe and got one on my arse first! The plan was to get one every decade - I am 3 years overdue for the next!

Looks bloody beaut, well worth the cost in the end,as you said if he fucks it up hard to fix.

Mine has similar meaning as you mentioned, who cares what they think it is your decision. When mine was done the guy wrapped gladwrap around the arm,and when I got home he said take a shower and have the water as hot as bearable to seal it,then pat dry,and use moisturiser/aftersun lotion, worked well no peeling or scabby look.

i had gauze stuck on mine, only coz they couldnt really glad wrap it as my shoulder blade does funny things when i move my arm lol... but no scabby look either, i used vasaline moisturiser, it was great stuff! still have almost a pull bottle to use on the ink I'm gunna get soon.

here's a pic of the design i want:

sure does!!!... tiger vs dragon = my fave animal vs my zodiac (that's what originally got me to go for the idea) then i was trying to find inspiration for the design so i looked up on the internet etc.. and found out that it has a perfect meaning for me : it symbolises yin yang and the balance of the universe, as well as the different forces struggling within the universe. or something to that effect really. I chose the more tribal style because it links back to ancestral times, such as the neanderthals or early homo sapiens. and the tribal style also links with the amazon women.

so yeah, i put quite a lot of thought into it, i think it really describes a certain part of me ... heh.

    Looks great.

There's just one thing to be aware of ... which is that Tattoos are addictive. Once you get one tattoo, you'll always be thinking about what you could get next.
